Job description

Description:

DSRT SURF isn’t a traditional workplace, and we’re not looking for a traditional marketing leader.

We’re building a fast growing hospitality and lifestyle brand focused on creating memorable experiences, strong community engagement, and a recognizable destination driven presence. We’re looking for an experienced and creative marketing professional who is passionate about branding, storytelling, partnerships, digital strategy, and guest engagement.

The Director of Marketing owns marketing production and execution for DSRT SURF, not just brand strategy. This is a hands-on role responsible for building the sales collateral, campaigns, and messaging that turn the lagoon experience into bookings and revenue, while directing the Social Media Coordinator, Content Creator, and outside creative vendors to a consistent standard.

This is a key role in positioning DSRT SURF as a premier destination while ensuring consistent brand messaging, strong creative direction, and meaningful customer engagement. This position works cross functionally with sales, operations, partnerships, and leadership teams to align marketing initiatives with overall business goals and guest experience.

What You'll Do

  • Own marketing execution end to end. This is a build and produce role, not a delegate and oversee role. You will personally write and design core marketing materials, including brochures, one pagers, sales collateral, email campaigns, and website copy, alongside directing your team
  • Develop and execute a marketing strategy tied directly to revenue, including group sales, private buyouts, session bookings, and event revenue, with clear targets you are accountable to
  • Directly manage and set daily and weekly priorities for the Social Media Coordinator and Content Creator, including reviewing and approving their output against a content calendar and performance goals
  • Translate the DSRT SURF product, including the lagoon, sessions, private buyouts, lessons, and events, into compelling, sales ready messaging and materials, not just brand awareness content
  • Lead digital marketing efforts including paid media, email marketing, SEO/SEM, and website updates, with hands on ownership of campaign builds, not just campaign oversight
  • Build and maintain a library of sales and marketing collateral, including brochures, pitch decks, one sheets, and proposal templates, used by sales, partnerships, and front of house teams
  • Oversee content production across photography, video, and social with direct creative direction and quality control, serving as the final check before anything goes out
  • Manage and quality control outside design and creative vendors, stepping in to execute or revise materials directly when vendor output does not meet brand standards
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current creative and design vendor relationships and recommend changes if they are not meeting the brand’s needs
  • Analyze campaign and channel performance and adjust strategy based on conversion and ROI, not just engagement metrics
  • Support partnerships, sponsorships, collaborations, and promotional opportunities aligned with the DSRT SURF brand
  • Plan and execute launch campaigns, seasonal promotions, activations, and special events, including the materials and messaging that support them
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, and leadership to keep marketing tied to guest experience and business goals
  • Stay informed on hospitality, lifestyle, wellness, and entertainment trends and apply them practically to DSRT SURF’s materials and campaigns
Requirements:

What You Bring

  • Previous marketing leadership experience in hospitality, lifestyle, or a related consumer brand required
  • Proven experience personally building marketing materials, including copywriting and layout, not just directing others to build them
  • Comfort producing polished materials without solely relying on outside design help or AI design, using tools like Canva, Adobe Express, or similar, when agency or freelance design is not strong enough
  • A track record of marketing efforts that moved revenue or bookings, not just awareness or press coverage
  • Experience managing a small creative or social team and holding them accountable to output and deadlines
  • Strong writing and messaging skills, with the ability to turn a product feature into a sentence that sells
  • Experience with analytics, reporting, and campaign performance tracking
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Comfort working lean at a hospitality and lifestyle brand with a small team, not an agency with endless resources
  • Professional presence and strong relationship building skills
  • Stoke

Who You Are

  • You’re curious, positive, and excited to help build something unique from the ground up.
  • You enjoy storytelling, creating memorable brand experiences, and finding creative ways to connect with audiences.
  • You bring energy, professionalism, and adaptability to everything you do.
  • You’re collaborative, solutions focused, and passionate about building brands that people genuinely want to engage with and experience.

Compensation

$100,000 -$120,000 annually. Compensation is competitive and based on experience, including base salary and total rewards package.

Current Work Environment

DSRT SURF is currently operating within an active growth and development environment. Team members may occasionally work around changing operational priorities, evolving business needs, events, and active hospitality environments.

Appropriate attire and adherence to all company standards and policies will be required while representing the brand.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout hospitality and event environments for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move marketing materials, event items, or presentation equipment
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and special events as needed
  • Ability to work in fast paced hospitality and operational environments

Schedule Expectations

This is a full time position. Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, networking events, and special events may be required based on operational needs.

Why DSRT SURF

This is an opportunity to help build something from the ground up where hospitality, lifestyle, and guest experience come together in a unique way. You’ll play an important role in shaping the voice, visibility, and overall growth of the brand from day one.
