Amego School is searching for energetic and passionate Assistant Teachers!

The assistant teacher’s primary duties are to ensure the safety and well-being of students with autism, as well as implement educational and behavior programming as directed by the head teacher and BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). Assistant teachers work directly with and teach students in a 1 on 1 and/or a 1 on 2 teacher to student ratio. The needs of our students demand a team-driven approach and a positive outlook. The assistant teacher position provides a rewarding work environment for those who want to make a positive impact and fulfill Amego’s mission to foster functional, vocational life skills so they can achieve greater independence. There are also great opportunities for growth and mentorship, including tuition reimbursement for those seeking a career in special education or applied behavior analysis. Assistant teacher duties include:

  1. Provide educational opportunities with the firm belief that everyone is capable of learning.
  2. Teach students as directed by the head teacher.
  3. Follow student behavior plans as directed by the BCBA.
  4. Reporting to residential group home work sites multiple days per week to assist students in preparing for school.
  5. Assisting students with toileting and showering as needed.
  6. Performing physical management strategies (including physical restraints) to keep students and others safe from challenging behaviors.
  7. Observe and safeguard student rights as mandated reporters.
  8. Participate in the general upkeep of the school and residential group homes.
  9. Write incident reports as necessary and to company standards

$22 - $25.20 hour. Depending on years of experience.
