Job description

Programmable Medicine, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company located in Redwood City, is seeking a motivated Chemist/Sr. Chemist Analytical Method Development. We are focused on developing novel nanomedicines, HD therapeutics (HDTs), to treat unmet medical needs in ophthalmology, neurology, inflammatory diseases, and neuro-oncology. Our HD platform builds therapeutics that are selectively taken up only by inflamed tissues, allowing us to treat diseases with unprecedented precision.
This position reports to the Director, Analytical Research and Development and will manage develop analytical methods and test various drug substances and drug products to support Medicinal Chemistry, Translational, Manufacturing, and CDMOs. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic, interdisciplinary team and require a high degree of creativity and initiative. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive the development of novel therapies for unmet medical needs in multiple indications.
The Position
The Chemist / Senior Chemist Analytical Method Development will serve as a key member of our development team, working on-site full-time, in our Redwood City laboratory, focusing on novel early and late-phase programs.
Duties and Responsibilities - Essential Functions
โ€ข Manage stability study and trend analysis such as design/review stability studies, prepare/review protocols, and monitor ongoing stability studies in-house and at various CDMOs
. Develop various analytical methods.
โ€ข Test various drug substance/drug product samples.
โ€ข Manage, set up, and maintain all instruments in the analytical lab.
โ€ข Keep and accurately maintain detailed electronic laboratory notebooks.
โ€ข Perform tasks per protocols as required.
โ€ข Additional responsibilities may be added as required.
Job Requirements
โ€ข BS degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or closely related scientific area is required along with a minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
โ€ข In-depth expertise with stability study, analytical method development and validation with HPLC, UPLC.
โ€ข Expertise in HPLC, HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS, SEC, and ICP-MS analytical techniques is preferred.
โ€ข Prior experience with analytical method development and validation for small molecule drugs.
โ€ข Experience with analytical method development and various tests for polymer-drug conjugates and/or biologics drug candidates are preferred.
โ€ข Experience with injectable and oral dosage forms
โ€ข Independent, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
โ€ข Knowledge of GLP & GMP requirements
โ€ข Well organized and self-directed
โ€ข Ability to communicate scientific findings and recommendations in one-on-one discussions, departmental meetings, and prepare reports.
โ€ข Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple projects and priorities.
โ€ข Must be able to work on site at our Redwood City facility, five days per week.
