Job description

E-logic is hiring a Bioinformatics Scientist / Analyst to deliver specialized domain expertise in molecular epidemiology and viral sequence cluster analysis for Secure HIV-TRACE program from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). You will collaborate directly with software engineers to refine analytical algorithms, build automated reporting features, and enhance data visualizations that support national outbreak response strategies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct phylogenetic analysis and molecular sequence data processing to support public health outbreak surveillance.
  • Provide domain expertise on bioinformatics workflows, including integration with specialized analytical tools.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to refine data visualization, automated reporting, and analytical algorithms within the platform.
  • Draft technical reports and provide domain-specific consultation to project teams and public health stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Advanced background/degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Epidemiology, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with HIV-TRACE, BEAST, TimeTree, or comparable molecular sequence analytical tools.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or R for genomic data processing and statistical analysis.
  • Direct experience analyzing HIV sequence data or viral molecular epidemiology is strongly preferred.
