Job description

Summary

This position conducts technical training classes within the assigned program, which enables the College to meet the current standards of accreditation, applicable federal and state licensing rules, as well as all national, state, and local regulations.  

Essential Functions

  • Teach one or more assigned classes that are part of the AMT program  

  • Compile and maintain student grade and attendance records and other required paperwork  

  • Follow and maintain daily lesson plans and course Study Guides, and ensure they are compliant with the current FAR 147 Certification Manual through input to the lead instructor/department head   

  • Comply with established procedures as noted in the FAR 147 Certification Manual  

  • Comply with established company policies and procedures  

  • Administer and grade lab projects and theory exams required for the course of instruction assigned  

  • Maintain lab equipment  

  • Report supplies and expendable materials needed for class to lead instructor or department head  

  • Ensure student compliance with all established student policies and procedures  

  • Provide student remediation as needed and within a normal workday  

  • Assist in student retention efforts 

Knowledge / Skills

  • Knowledge of computers with ability to edit and create documents using Microsoft Office products 

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as technical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and government regulations 

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals 

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, staff, and students 

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane, and solid geometry 

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations  

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists 

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form 

Education and Work Experience

Required Minimum: 

  • High school diploma or equivalency*; and FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification; and at least four years of related practical work experience. 

Preferred: 

  • Related associate degree (or higher); and FAA A&P certification; and at least four years of related practical work experience; OR 

 High school diploma or equivalency*; and FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification; and at least eight years of related practical work experience. 

High School Graduation or Equivalency (All Campuses)

Employees who hold an earned credential (degree; or certificate or diploma of at least 600 clock hours or 24 semester credits or 36 quarter credits) from an accredited postsecondary institution are not required to also provide proof of high school equivalency. 

To qualify under this provision, the postsecondary credential must represent completion of a structured, credit-bearing program of study beyond high school, consisting of at least 600 clock hours or 24 semester credits or 36 quarter credits at an accredited institution. Those who have only earned college credits without completing such credential must still provide proof of high school completion or equivalency.
