What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AMR (Automated Mobile Robot) Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AMR Engineer, you need a solid background in robotics, mechatronics, or computer engineering, typically supported by a relevant degree and experience in autonomous systems. Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System), sensor integration, navigation algorithms, and simulation tools is commonly required. Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and effective communication are essential soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure the successful development, deployment, and maintenance of AMR solutions in dynamic industrial environments.

What are some common challenges faced by AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) engineers in day-to-day operations?

AMR engineers often encounter challenges such as integrating robots with existing warehouse management systems, troubleshooting navigation and localization issues, and ensuring reliable communication between robots and control software. They may also need to address safety concerns when AMRs operate alongside human workers and adapt robot behavior to dynamic environments. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including IT, logistics, and maintenance staff, is essential for smooth operations and continuous improvements.

What are AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robots)?

AMR stands for Autonomous Mobile Robots, which are robots capable of understanding and moving through their environment without direct human intervention. They use sensors, cameras, and artificial intelligence to navigate spaces, avoid obstacles, and complete tasks such as material transport in warehouses or factories. AMRs are increasingly used in industries for logistics, inventory management, and other repetitive or potentially hazardous tasks. Their flexibility and ability to work alongside humans make them valuable assets in modern automation.

What is the difference between Amr vs Mrr?

Tasks and Qualifications:
What You Will do in This Role:
โ€ข Primary equipment focus will be to help manage and coordinate the design of AMR equipment incorporating various types of material handling system applications.
โ€ข Another main responsibility is the configuration of AMR fleet management software, and then commissioning of the hardware and sleet management software at the customer's facility.
โ€ข You define mid and top-level behavior of the AMRs, thereby shaping much of the overall behavior of the system.
โ€ข Provide detailed new equipment and acceptance testing specifications.
โ€ข Drive all activities related to ensuring new equipment is built to specification.
โ€ข Thoroughly characterize and document the base line performance and capability of each system and drive actions to maintain system performance to the documented base line.
โ€ข You are often the first point of contact for the customers during the implementation phase on site. During the implementation phase on site, you are an important contact person for the customer and enable a successful transition to live operation.
โ€ข In addition, you will collaborate with others through the creation of a training program for the corresponding users on site.
โ€ข Fluent in English
โ€ข Chinese speaking is an advantage
What We Are Looking for:
โ€ข You are interested in the application of high-tech solutions in industrial environments.
โ€ข You have a good understanding of the principles of automated handling tools, electronics, equipment function, test equipment, operation, maintenance and repair.
