Job Description
The Kinetic Group is a world leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of small caliber ammunition under the iconic brands B&P, CCI, Federal Premium, Fiocchi, HEVI-Shot, Remington and Speer. We have domestic ammunition manufacturing facilities in Minnesota, Idaho, Arkansas, and Missouri, and service law enforcement, government agencies and sporting enthusiasts throughout the world. Today, The Kinetic Group is a part of the Ammo+ division of The Czechoslovak Group (CSG), which holds a diverse portfolio of companies in the defense, security, automotive, aerospace and rail industries.
The Kinetic Group is seeking a Sr. Design Engineer to lead the hands-on development of next-generation rifle ammunition, from initial concept and design through testing, validation, and full-scale manufacturing launch, at our Federal Ammunition facility. This role offers the opportunity to directly shape high-performance products and see your designs come to life in real-world applications.
This position reports to the Product Engineering Manager and is based out of our Anoka, Minnesota office.
What you'll do:
  • Manage all aspects of new rifle product development programs. This includes product design, testing, documentation, quality specifications, budgets, timelines, and raw material qualifications.
  • Communicate and work with engineering technicians, assigning workload, and conveying new product requirements and goals.
  • Cross-functional work with Operations and support staff to execute new product introductions into manufacturing. This includes assessing equipment capability, establishing bill of materials, and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Problem solving and Failure Analysis, to resolve design and production issues.
  • Support Marketing team with technical data review, asset creation, and attendance at trade and consumer shows as a subject matter expert.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with vendors and outside technical resources as needed, to be successful in developing new processes and products.
  • Thorough understanding and broad application of technical standards, principles, theories and techniques relating to small arms ammunition and other related disciplines is desired but not essential.

You have:
  • B.S. in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Hands-on ownership of at least 1-2 products from concept through manufacturing launch
  • Direct experience troubleshooting design issues on the production floor
  • Experience working with manufacturing equipment/process capability (not just design)
  • Demonstrated failure analysis leading to design or process changes
  • Experience with Minitab or similar software.

You might have:
  • Background in ammunition development, ballistics, firearms, and related processes.
  • Experience related to military service, hunting, competitive shooting, and reloading.
  • CAD/CAM experience desired.

Work Environment:
Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.
Pay Range:
Annual Salary: $75,800.00 - $121,800.00
The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
