The Team You'll Work With
You'll be joining our Inbound Compliance team.
This team sits at the front line of Carta's compliance function - managing the intake and resolution of KYC requests on behalf of some of the world's leading asset managers and private equity firms. You'll work in a high-volume, client-facing environment where accuracy, speed, and regulatory fluency aren't optional - they're the baseline.
The Problems You'll Solve
At Carta, our employees set out on a mission to unlock the power of equity ownership for more people in more places. We believe that the problems we solve today unlock the opportunities of tomorrow. As a KYC Analyst - Inbound Compliance, you'll work to:
  • Own the KYC request lifecycle. Manage the intake, processing, and timely resolution of inbound KYC requests from clients and their counterparties, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks and every response meets the standard.
  • Be the client's compliance guide. Serve as the primary point of contact for KYC inquiries, giving clients clear, confident answers on global KYC requirements so they can move their transactions forward.
  • Uphold the regulatory bar. Review and validate KYC documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with AML, KYC, and applicable international frameworks, and make the call when something doesn't pass muster.
  • Keep records airtight. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all KYC requests and documentation in Carta's systems, so the team always has a clean audit trail.
  • Stay ahead of a moving target. Monitor evolving KYC/AML regulations globally and apply updated requirements to daily work, ensuring Carta's compliance posture keeps pace with regulatory change.
About You
  • Detail-oriented under pressure. You catch what others miss and you do it consistently, even when managing a high volume of concurrent requests against tight deadlines
  • Confident and client-ready. You enjoy client KYC conversations with senior stakeholders and counterparties, assertive, professional, and knowing when to escalate versus when to resolve.
  • 1 to 2+ years of compliance experience. You have a working understanding of global KYC and AML frameworks and can apply them practically, not just cite them. AML/KYC certifications (ICA, ACAMS) are a plus but not required
  • A proactive decision-maker. You don't wait to be told what to do. You assess the situation, apply the right framework, and move forward with minimal supervision
  • Experienced in complex legal entities. Prior exposure to corporate banking, a legal service provider, or a fund compliance environment is a strong plus, particularly familiarity with offshore jurisdictions like Cayman or Luxembourg
  • A communicator people trust. You write clearly, speak with confidence, and bring the same professionalism to client-facing correspondence as you do to internal work
  • Able to manage a full plate. You handle multiple priorities simultaneously without dropping the ball, and you stay composed under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Building toward a compliance career. You have a genuine interest in AML/CFT compliance and legal services and you're looking for a place to grow, not just a job to fill
  • Some legal or compliance exposure is a plus. Prior experience in a legal, compliance, or risk management environment is welcome but not required

Preferred but not required
  • Experience with AI in practice. You've worked with AI tools or technology-driven workflows before and know how to apply them in real-world settings
  • Prior experience in financial or legal services. A background at a law firm, legal services provider, fund administrator, or the compliance or legal department of a financial institution or asset manager will set you up well.
  • Familiarity with KYC documentation. Experience reviewing or preparing KYC documentation packs, AML comfort letters, or UBO declarations is a meaningful advantage.
  • Knowledge of private markets structures. Familiarity with fund formations, GP/LP relationships, and offshore holding structures including Luxembourg is a strong plus.
  • Regulatory framework exposure. Any prior exposure to EU (including CSSF and AMLD requirements), UK (FCA), or US (FinCEN) AML/CFT frameworks will translate directly to this role.
  • Qualifications. A degree in law, compliance, finance, or a related subject area, or a diploma in paralegal studies. Professional certifications such as ICA Certificate in AML or ACAMS are a plus but not required.

At Carta, you're not just an employee. You're a builder who is creating infrastructure that accelerates innovation and empowers more ownership. Cartans are helpful, relentless, unconventional and kind; representing Carta's Identity Traits. They work collaboratively and cross functionally to challenge the status quo; working towards a common goal of creating more owners in the private markets.
Salary
Carta's compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our compensation range for this role is:
  • $63,100 - $78,900 in San Francisco (hourly rate of $30.34 - $37.93)
  • $59,945 - $74,955 in Seattle (hourly rate of $28.82 - $36.04)

*Annualized salary based on estimated 40 hour hours per week before overtime
We are hiring for multiple levels and locations, so final offers may vary from the amounts listed based on geography, experience and expertise, and other factors.
