As a Ramp Agent, you will be essential in ensuring that flights run on time by providing efficient ground support services.

Job responsibilities:

  • Guide inbound/outbound airplanes to and from the gate.

  • Transport, lift, load/unload, sort and transfer passenger baggage, cargo, and mail material in and out of aircraft bins, belt loader, or baggage carts in a safe manner.

  • Safeguards customer baggage, air cargo, airmail from weather, loss, theft, damage and/or destruction.

  • Clean aircraft passenger cabins between flights and stock aircraft with needed supplies.

  • Operate heavy equipment such as pushback equipment and maintain visual contact with Wing Walkers to ensure the equipment is free of any danger.

  • Operate and/or drive motorized equipment, such as belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, push back tugs, bag cart, lavatory cart, and deicers; or manually push and pull push carts and containers.Operate equipment to move luggage and cargo, tow planes between gates, and refill water tanks and lavatories.

  • Receive and record customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required.

  • Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft, which could include wheelchairs, strollers, live animals, and other vital property of passengers, and prepare records in connection with these responsibilities.

  • Complete paperwork and forms connected with work assignments pertaining to procedures and enter data into company's information system as required.

  • Follow company procedures and protocols to ensure we are always operating in a safe and responsible manner.

  • Complete all training when required by company, airport governing authority, or customer when required.

  • Be on time, be prepared, and be safe. Be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • This job requires physical stamina and strength - Ramp Agents must be able to lift / carry / push / pull and move items 70 pounds (32 kg) or more on a regular basis and repetitively lift items weighing 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces.

  • Must be able to carry heavy items up and down narrow jetway stairs.

  • Must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods.

  • Must be able to work in cramped or high places.

  • Must be able to be alerted to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authorities.

  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather, around jet and machinery noises.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Good Communication Skills - Ramp Agents must be able to communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment effectively in a professional manner with the flight crew, gate agents, and other ground crew to coordinate the movement and handling of planes, equipment, baggage, and cargo.

  • Basic math skills: Ramp agents may be required to calculate weight and balance calculations for planes.

  • Computer skills: Ramp agents may be required to use computer systems to track cargo and baggage.

  • Problem-solving skills: Ramp agents may be called upon to troubleshoot issues during loading and unloading.

  • Time management skills: Ramp agents must be able to manage their time effectively to complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.


Qualifications:

  • Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma, GED, or work experience equivalent.

  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • If work location is in the United States, must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.If work location is in Canada, must have authorization to work in Canada as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) of 2001.

  • Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security.

  • If required by customer or role access, be able to secure a Customs Seal through the respective governing agency.

  • Preferred Qualifications - One+ year of relevant experience.
