Position Summary
Gateway Regional Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to join our team at Edwardsville Ambulatory Surgery Center.
In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients throughout the pre-operative and post-operative phases of care. Using strong clinical judgment and the nursing process, you will assess patient needs, monitor recovery, respond to changing conditions, and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and exceptional patient outcomes.
This role is ideal for nurses who enjoy balancing technical expertise with meaningful patient interaction.
What You'll Do
  • Deliver individualized nursing care during pre-operative and post-operative recovery
  • Assess, monitor, and interpret patient conditions and recovery progress
  • Provide patient education and discharge instructions
  • Administer medications and interventions as appropriate
  • Collaborate closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Respond effectively to changes in patient condition
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support quality patient outcomes
Qualifications
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing

Licensure & Certifications
Required:
  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Required Within 3 Months of Hire:
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Experience
Required:
  • Minimum of two years of medical-surgical nursing experience

Preferred:
  • One to two years of critical care nursing experience
