The Administrative Director, Ambulatory Imaging provides strategic and operational leadership for the health system's Ambulatory Imaging Service Line, including Independent Diagnostic Testing Facilities (IDTFs), outpatient imaging centers, and future ambulatory imaging expansion initiatives. This role is responsible for helping to develop and execute system-wide strategies that ensure optimal access, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, financial performance, physician partnership, and exceptional patient access while supporting organizational growth objectives. This leader needs to understand a consumer and patient first mindset to optimize coordination of care.
The Administrative Director collaborates closely with physician leadership, hospital executives, ambulatory operations, finance, compliance, radiology partners, and regulatory agencies to standardize operations, optimize reimbursement, and position ambulatory imaging as a competitive enterprise service line. This leader serves as the operational authority for all ambulatory imaging governance while driving continuous improvement, quality, accreditation, and long-term strategic development. This role reports to the SVP of FPN and Post Acute and Ambulatory Care.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
- This position will be based out of Indiana and will sit in one of our closest Franciscan locations to you and will require travel to all the other offsite locations as needed.
- Strategic Leadership and Service Line Development (20%) Provides strategic leadership for the ambulatory imaging service line by developing long-term growth strategies, evaluating market opportunities, expanding access to imaging services, and aligning operations with organizational priorities. Leads planning for new ambulatory imaging centers, IDTF development, service expansion, and strategic initiatives that strengthen market position while ensuring sustainable growth and high-quality patient care.
- Operational Leadership and Performance Management (20%) Directs the operational performance of the ambulatory imaging network to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered service delivery across multiple locations. Establishes operational standards, monitors key performance indicators, implements best practices, and drives continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, patient access, service quality, and operational consistency.
- Regulatory Compliance, Accreditation, and Quality Management (15%) Provides oversight of all regulatory, accreditation, and compliance requirements governing ambulatory imaging and IDTF operations. Ensures compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, supervising physician requirements billing regulations, privacy standards, and organizational policies while leading quality improvement initiatives that promote patient safety and operational excellence.
- Financial Management and Business Operations (15%) Develops and manages operating and capital budgets while maintaining fiscal accountability for the ambulatory imaging service line. Partners with Finance to monitor financial performance, improve reimbursement strategies, evaluate productivity, manage expenses, oversee capital planning, and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and long-term financial sustainability.
- Physician, Executive, and Strategic Partnerships (10%) Develops collaborative relationships with radiologists, referring physicians, ambulatory leadership, hospital executives, vendors, and other internal and external stakeholders. Serves as the operational leader for ambulatory imaging initiatives by fostering physician engagement, supporting business development, facilitating communication, and advancing enterprise-wide strategic objectives.
- Leadership, Workforce Development, and Organizational Effectiveness (10%) Provides leadership, coaching, and professional development for managers and other ambulatory imaging leaders. Oversees workforce planning, succession planning, performance management, employee engagement, and organizational development while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Program Implementation, Resource Management, and Organizational Stewardship (10%) Leads complex organizational initiatives involving ambulatory imaging expansion, facility development, operational redesign, technology implementation, and service integration. Oversees equipment planning, vendor relationships, supply chain coordination, and capital resources while ensuring successful implementation of enterprise priorities and supporting the mission, values, and strategic objectives of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or Health Care - Required
- Master's Degree MBA, MHA or Master's degree in relevant studies - Preferred
- 7 years progressive healthcare leadership experience - Required
- 5 years leadership experience directing ambulatory imaging, diagnostic services, radiology, outpatient operations, or a comparable healthcare service line. - Required
- 10+ years healthcare leadership experience. - Preferred
- Experience leading multi-site ambulatory operations. - Preferred
- Experience with outpatient imaging reimbursement, IDTF operations, Medicare/Medicaid enrollment, accreditation, regulatory compliance, and physician practice operations. - Preferred
- Experience leading strategic growth initiatives, service line expansion, or operational transformation projects. - Preferred
- Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) - American College of Healthcare Executives - Preferred
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification - Preferred
