Job description

Amazon is hiring an editor to report, write, edit, and project manage feature stories for Amazon's corporate news site, AboutAmazon.com. As part of the Amazon News editorial team, you will produce deeply reported, visually rich content that showcases Amazon News as a premium, trusted source of information about Amazon for external audiences. You will work closely with our senior features editor and photo and design leads to create storytelling that goes beyond news announcements-content that provides exclusive behind-the-scenes access, breaks down complex topics, and connects authentically with audiences

There will also be travel opportunities throughout the year to Amazon facilities for on-the-ground reporting. Recent features include a 3D tour inside an AWS AI chip, an exploration of Amazon's mass timber delivery station testing 40+ sustainability innovations, and a deep dive into the custom AI powering Prime Video's live sports insights. We're also exploring video and audio adaptations of our feature reporting, so experience with multimedia storytelling is a plus.
The ideal candidate brings digital journalism and feature writing expertise, with the proven ability to spot compelling story ideas and break down complex technical topics into compelling, digestible narratives

You will ideate with multiple teams and develop features about Amazon's work across AI, innovation, sustainability, customer experience, and other priority topics. Your understanding of data-driven digital journalism and distribution strategy will be crucial in ensuring these stories reach and engage audiences.
This is an individual contributor role that sits within Amazon's Communications & Corporate Responsibility org. You will be expected to work cross-functionally across the Amazon News team and the wider communications org

You will partner with communications stakeholders to understand specific objectives, audiences, and messaging requirements for each feature, using these insights to develop effective content and distribution strategies that maximize story reach.
Success in this role requires someone who:
- Has experience reporting and writing long-form feature stories, preferably covering AI, technology, and innovation
- Can translate complex technical concepts into engaging, accessible narratives
- Understands the current digital content landscape and what makes premium content break through
- Builds strong relationships to secure access and navigate approval processes
- Thinks strategically about distribution, not just content creation
- Makes well-reasoned decisions, even when they differ from stakeholder perspectives
- Adapts well to change and embraces experimentation
- Delivers compelling stories with measurable engagement results
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment managing multiple stories at various production stages
-Has experience with or interest in multimedia formats (audio, video, podcasts) as extensions of written storytelling
This position can be in New York, NY or Seattle, WA.
Key job responsibilities
Reporting and content creation: Report, write, and edit feature stories that require deep access to Amazon facilities, employees, and technical experts. Conduct interviews, gather on-the-ground details, and collaborate with our design and photo leads to create visually compelling stories that educate audiences on complex topics.
Partnership: Serve as a content partner to communications teams, providing guidance throughout feature development from planning to execution and analysis

Build and maintain productive relationships that enable early access to subjects, streamlined approvals, and successful content delivery.
Strategy: Work with our team's editor in chief and senior editor to implement the Amazon News feature strategy. Identify compelling story opportunities that ladder up to priority reputational narratives, using audience data, SEO insights, and editorial judgment.
Distribution planning: Develop and execute comprehensive distribution strategies for each feature to maximize reach and impact. Collaborate with channel owners, executive communications, and social media teams to secure distribution commitments early in the production process.
Analytics and performance: Use engagement data-time on page, recirculation rates, and other metrics-to evaluate feature performance and make data-informed adjustments

Experimenting and scaling: Develop and document best practices, create efficient workflows, and help scale feature production. Manage multiple stories simultaneously at different stages from ideation through publication.
Additional coverage: Support the broader Amazon News team as needed, including contributing to SEO/GEO-focused explainers and news coverage during high-volume periods.
About the team
This role is part of the Amazon News team within Communications & Corporate Responsibility, which oversees AboutAmazon.com, including content and SEO, as well as the Amazon News email newsletter. Our features have won industry awards, including the 2025 Shorthand Award for Best Corporate Communications Story.
