Position Information
This position supports programming in the Teen Makerspace. In this customer service role, the successful candidate will assist patrons in a very busy branch with using online resources and public computers in addition to providing circulation services. They will also be assigned to assist with shelving, processing book donations, processing daily delivery of materials, and special projects under the guidance of librarians. This position requires an 18-hour work week, including nights and weekends, with assigned Sunday afternoon shifts.
Essential Functions
Circulation/information services including: checking books in and out; registering patrons for library cards; registering patrons for voter registration cards.
Take fines for overdue books.
Assist in keeping daily statistics.
Develops and maintains a working knowledge about the organization and care of library materials, library services and programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required; supplemented by six or more months work experience involving public interaction/customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in sewing, crocheting, crafting, knitting, quilting, STEM programs, gaming, as well as drawing and painting.
Spanish language proficiency is a plus
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
