What is an Amazon Relay?

An Amazon Relay job involves independent trucking companies and owner-operators hauling freight for Amazon using the Amazon Relay load board. It provides carriers access to a network of Amazon freight, allowing them to book and manage loads efficiently. Amazon Relay offers consistent work, quick payments, and dedicated support to help carriers maximize their earnings. To participate, carriers must meet Amazon's requirements, including insurance and compliance standards.

What does a typical workday look like for an Amazon Relay driver or carrier partner?

A typical day as an Amazon Relay driver or carrier partner involves picking up pre-scheduled loads from Amazon facilities, following optimized routes using the Relay app, and delivering freight to designated drop-off locations. Most assignments use no-touch freight, meaning drivers spend little or no time loading or unloading cargo. Communication with Amazon logistics staff and adherence to tight delivery windows are key parts of the workflow. The role offers flexibility in scheduling, with opportunities for both local and regional routes depending on your preferences and truck capacity. This structure supports independent contractors looking for reliable hauls while maintaining autonomy over their work schedules.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Amazon Relay position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Amazon Relay driver or carrier partner, you need a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), a strong understanding of safe truck operation, and knowledge of freight logistics. Familiarity with Amazon’s Relay mobile app for scheduling, GPS navigation, and electronic logging devices (ELDs) is crucial, along with any required DOT certifications. Excellent time management, customer service skills, and reliability set top performers apart in this fast-paced environment. These skills ensure timely and secure delivery of goods, compliance with industry regulations, and a positive partnership with Amazon’s logistics network.

Job description

About Loop
Loop is industrializing services through AI, starting with one of the world's most complex industries: the global supply chain. We're an AI-native company built to solve the systemic data problem that's held logistics back for decades. Our Logistics Data Platform turns fragmented, unstructured data into a trusted foundation that fuels automation, financial clarity, and decision intelligence at scale. Today, Loop serves >20% of the Fortune 100, manages over $30B in supply chain spend, and helps its clients save hundreds of millions of dollars each year.
We recently closed a $95M Series C and are backed by leading investors including Valor Equity Partners, Founders Fund, 8VC, Index Ventures, J.P. Morgan, and more than 50 industry-leading angel investors.
Our team brings deep expertise from Uber, Google, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, Flexport, C3 AI, VMware, Box, UPS, and C.H. Robinson and we're looking for builders who want to help shape what comes next.
About You
Loop's systems team owns the layer everything else runs on. Volume through our platform is growing faster than the current architecture was designed for, and closing that gap is the job. You will work close to the code while thinking deeply about scalability and performance, spending your time on system design, database and runtime performance, and observability. You will need to understand how and why our product features work, without necessarily building new ones yourself. Much of the highest-leverage work is not fixing bottlenecks yourself but partnering with other engineering teams so they can make their own systems faster. You will face and solve hard technical problems with real production impact, bring deep expertise in at least one core area, and have the judgment to know which bottleneck is worth attacking first. You will shape the Loop DNA and define how we grow as a company.
Responsibilities
  • Set the architectural direction for scale and partner with product engineering teams to get there. A large part of this role is reviewing designs with scale in mind and raising the engineering bar rather than only fixing things for other teams.
  • Own observability for the systems that carry the most load. Improve and expand our performance monitoring, which lets us catch bottlenecks before they turn into incidents.
  • Find and eliminate the bottlenecks slowing the platform down today, taking on the hardest performance problems and production incidents directly and turning them into durable fixes rather than patches.
  • Get ahead of the next scaling limit by anticipating where the architecture will break as we scale, planning for it rather than reacting, and leading the large-scale infrastructure and architecture migrations that incremental tuning cannot solve.

Qualifications
  • Work in the SF office 4+ days a week.
  • Three or more years of software engineering experience, with meaningful time spent on backend, platform, or infrastructure systems in production. This is not a new grad role, and we are open to a range of levels, from strong mid-level through senior.
  • A track record of performance and scaling work on production systems. You have been somewhere where the load grew significantly, and you can explain what broke, how you found it, and what you changed.
  • Deep expertise in at least one of PostgreSQL, Node.js performance, or cloud infrastructure such as AWS, with working familiarity across the other two. We do not expect anyone to be an expert in all three; real depth in one, plus enough context to reason about the others, is the bar.
  • Strong written communication and the ability to influence architecture decisions on teams you do not own.
  • Experience leading a large-scale architecture migration, or with high-throughput data or workflow systems, is a plus alongside depth in one of the areas above.

Under the Hood
  • Infrastructure: AWS, CDK, Fargate ECS
  • Backend: TypeScript, Node.js, Prisma, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, GraphQL
  • Frontend: TypeScript, React, Relay, Ant Design, Vite, GraphQL
  • Orchestration: Temporal

Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is $145,000 to $205,000 annually. This range reflects the base pay that Loop reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of hire. Actual compensation will depend on job-related factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, location, and business needs.
In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for equity. This role is also eligible for Loop's benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) match, paid time off, paid holidays, and parental leave.
Visa Sponsorship
Loop may provide employment visa sponsorship for this role. Green card sponsorship may also be available based on business needs and eligibility requirements.
Equal Opportunity
Loop is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
