What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Amazon pilot, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Amazon Pilot, you need a valid commercial pilot’s license (typically an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate), strong aviation knowledge, and experience with cargo operations. Familiarity with aircraft such as the Boeing 767 or 737, proficiency in using advanced avionics, and adherence to FAA regulations are essential. Excellent situational awareness, decision-making, and communication skills help pilots handle dynamic situations and coordinate with crew and ground staff. These skills and qualifications are crucial to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of cargo across Amazon’s air network.

What are some typical challenges Amazon pilots face when operating cargo flights, and how are they addressed?

Amazon Pilots often encounter challenges such as tight delivery schedules, varying weather conditions, and adapting to different airport environments. To address these, pilots undergo rigorous training in both flight operations and Amazon's specific logistics procedures. Close collaboration with ground crews, dispatchers, and operations managers is essential to ensure safe, timely deliveries. Additionally, Amazon emphasizes safety protocols and provides pilots with advanced technology and support to help them navigate these challenges effectively.

What does an Amazon pilot do?

An Amazon Pilot is a professional pilot who operates aircraft for Amazon Air, transporting packages and freight between Amazon’s fulfillment centers and delivery hubs. Amazon Pilots must adhere to strict safety regulations, work with ground crews, and may fly varying routes according to logistics needs. They play a crucial role in Amazon’s supply chain, helping the company provide fast and reliable delivery services.

How to become an Amazon Pilot?

To become an Amazon Pilot, candidates typically need relevant experience in aviation, such as a commercial pilot license and flight hours, along with strong technical skills and knowledge of aviation safety standards. The hiring process may include assessments, interviews, and background checks. Familiarity with Amazon's operational environment and certifications like FAA licenses can improve prospects.

Does Amazon employ pilots?

Amazon does not typically employ pilots for its core operations but has explored using drone delivery services that may involve licensed pilots. The company also partners with logistics providers that employ pilots for certain transportation roles. Most pilot jobs related to Amazon are in the context of drone operations or third-party logistics companies.

Co-Founder & CEO - AI E-commerce Operations System

FutureSight

San Francisco, CA • On-site, Remote

Full-time

Re-posted 5 days ago

Job description

The Opportunity
FutureSight is seeking a Co-Founder & CEO to lead Omnex, an AI-native operating system for multi-channel ecommerce sellers, currently in build at our studio. This is a co-founder partnership with meaningful founder equity, not a salaried executive role.
Today's e-commerce businesses run on fragmented software and manual coordination. Sellers operating across Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Walmart, and other channels constantly switch between dashboards, reconcile conflicting data, and make hundreds of operational decisions every day across pricing, inventory, advertising, fulfillment, and customer support.
The opportunity sits within a global ecommerce market exceeding $1 trillion in annual GMV, where millions of sellers increasingly operate across multiple channels but lack any unified operational intelligence layer.
Market Context
Omnex replaces this fragmented workflow with an autonomous, multi-agent AI workforce. Instead of giving sellers another dashboard, Omnex continuously understands the business, reasons across every sales channel, and proactively executes operational decisions-from optimizing pricing and inventory to managing advertising, forecasting demand, and coordinating customer support. Every AI agent shares the same business context, learns from outcomes, and works together to optimize the business as a whole.
About FutureSight
FutureSight is a leading venture builder that co-creates world-class software companies with values-driven entrepreneurs from inception to exit. We are a team of founders, operators and designers with experience successfully bringing software to market at scale.
You'll co-create with a proven studio team, led by John Carbrey (4x entrepreneur, $100M ARR), Krista LaRiviere (3x exited, E&Y Top Women Entrepreneur), Alan Smith (Strategyzer co-founder, $120M in products built), Prathna Ramesh (former MD of Maple Leaf Angels, $275M in follow-on capital), and Johnny Tong (0-to-1 builder, acquired by SAP and Stripe) bring a rare combination of operator exits, institutional investing, and AI product depth.
The Partnership
  • Founder equity with meaningful ownership from inception
  • Pre-seed capital committed by FutureSight for early hires and MVP development, with potential for follow-on funding
  • Venture building resources, including embedded design, engineering, growth, and fundraising support from day one
  • Investor and advisor network across logistics, vertical AI, and early-stage capital markets
  • A true co-creation model in which you operate as CEO with FutureSight's cross-functional team as your partner
What you'll own
As Co-Founder & CEO, you will set the venture's direction and lead its execution.
  • Strategy - Refine the ICP, pricing model, and product positioning
  • Customer Development - Lead pilots with ecommerce sellers, convert them to paid engagements, and build the go-to-market motion
  • Product - Partner with the FutureSight product and engineering team to ship V1 and iterate on user feedback
  • Capital - Lead the seed raise, supported by FutureSight's network and traction
  • Team - Recruit and lead the founding team, and establish the cultural foundation of the company
Co-Founder Profile
  • Previous founding experience at a venture-backed company
  • Demonstrated success in B2B SaaS go-to-market, including sales and customer engagement
  • Fundraising fluency, with the ability to develop investor narratives and close capital
  • Proven ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent
  • Clear-eyed understanding of the risks and demands of co-founding a venture-backed company
  • Direct experience in ecommerce - operated a multi-channel business, sold software into this market, or built tools for ecommerce sellers at scale
  • Network within the ecommerce seller community (Amazon sellers, Shopify operators, 3PL partners)
How to Apply
Please submit your resume, LinkedIn profile, and a brief note on why this venture aligns with your goals as a founder. We will move quickly for the right candidate.
FutureSight is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and experiences.
