Amazon Non Inventory Receiver information

What is an Amazon Non Inventory Receiver?

Amazon Non Inventory Receivers are warehouse associates responsible for receiving, inspecting, and processing non-inventory goods that support warehouse operations, such as office supplies, equipment, and maintenance items. Unlike regular inventory handlers, their focus is on items not meant for customer orders but essential for facility functionality. They ensure all non-inventory shipments are accurately documented, distributed to the appropriate departments, and stored correctly. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication with other teams within the fulfillment center.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Amazon Non Inventory Receiver?

To thrive as an Amazon Non Inventory Receiver, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with warehouse operations, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS), handheld scanners, and basic inventory tracking software is typically required. Dependability, time management, and effective communication are valuable soft skills for coordinating with team members and ensuring accuracy. These abilities are essential for maintaining efficient supply chain operations and preventing errors in inventory processing.

What are some common challenges faced by Amazon Non Inventory Receivers, and how can they be managed effectively?

One common challenge for Amazon Non Inventory Receivers is managing the high volume and variety of non-inventory goods, such as office supplies and equipment, without disrupting the main warehouse flow. Staying organized and maintaining clear communication with other departments is key to ensuring timely and accurate processing. Receivers often need to adapt quickly to shifting priorities and troubleshoot discrepancies in shipments, so attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential for success. Collaborative teamwork and proactive reporting of issues help maintain operational efficiency and a positive work environment.

  5. View prompts on screens and follow the direction for some tasks
  6. Troubleshoot problems
  7. Ensure product meets quality requirements
  8. Operate power industrial trucks (PIT) such as a forklift or pallet driver, and work at heights up to 35 feet. Equipment training and certification are provided free of cost.

You'll also need to be able to:
  1. Lift up to 49 pounds
  2. Push utility carts up to 60 pounds
  3. Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts
  4. Use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items around
  5. Go up and down stairs (where applicable)
  6. Work at a height of up to 40 feet on a mezzanine (where applicable)
  7. Adhere to strict safety, quality, and fulfillment production standards

What it's like at an Amazon Fulfillment Center

  2. Surroundings. You'll be working around moving machines - order pickers, stand-up forklifts, turret trucks, and mobile carts.
  3. Activity. Some activities may require standing in one place for long periods, walking around, or climbing stairs.

  5. Noise level. It can get noisy at times. We provide hearing protection if you need it.
  6. Dress code. Relaxed, with a few rules to follow for safety. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required. Depending on the role or location, Amazon provides a $110 Zappos gift code towards the purchase of shoes, in order to have you prepared for your first day on the job.

  2. Schedule options. Depending on where you work, schedules may include full-time (40 hours), reduced-time (30-36 hours) or part-time (20 hours or less), all with the option of working additional hours if needed.
  3. Shift flexibility. Work when it works for you. Shifts may include overnight, early morning, day, evening, and weekend. You can even have four-day workweeks, three-day weekends - and with Anytime Shifts , you can work as little as four hours per week.
