Job description

Operations Infrastructure Services (OIS) is looking for a System Development Engineer II to join our CIA Onboardings team in Austin, TX. In this role, you'll transform how Amazon's fulfillment centers link to our network: turning a complex, weeks-long process into a streamlined, self-service experience that empowers solution owners across Amazon's global operations.
Our team owns the critical network onboarding infrastructure that enables hundreds of solutions across Amazon's fulfillment network. You'll build scalable systems that serve solution owners, third-party integrators, and deployment engineers who rely on our platforms to rapidly innovate

Your work will directly impact how quickly new technologies deploy to fulfillment centers worldwide, reducing onboarding time from weeks to days while maintaining the highest standards of network security and reliability.
As an SysDE II, you'll contribute to our core platforms including NC2 (Network Connectivity Controls), our primary onboarding and VLAN management platform, and emerging unified onboarding solutions. You'll design systems that require minimal long-term maintenance, automate manual processes, and create tools that scale across Amazon's operations infrastructure ecosystem. You'll work on challenging problems spanning network automation, self-service experiences, and monitoring platforms that provide visibility into network health for solution owners.
Key job responsibilities
- Build and maintain automation for network onboarding workflows that serve hundreds of fulfillment centers globally
- Develop features for NC2 and related platforms that enable same-day, friction-less onboarding experiences
- Design scalable back end systems and APIs that integrate with Amazon's challenging network infrastructure
- Partner with cross-functional teams including security, network engineering, and deployment teams
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure high availability of critical and challenging onboarding systems
- Write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive testing and documentation
A day in the life
As a System Development Engineer on the CIA Onboardings team, you'll spend your days building the automation that transforms how Amazon's fulfillment centers link to our network

Your day will consist of just the essential meetings, stand-ups and design reviews. You'll write code that directly impacts hundreds of solution owners such as customers onboarding LIDAR systems or robotics equipment. You'll interact with Principal Engineers and Product Managers leaders regularly, getting their guidance while you grow in the role.
