As a Systems Development Engineer on the Customer Experience Infrastructure team, you will contribute to building innovative self-service infrastructure management solutions that empower operations teams across Amazon's global fulfillment network. You'll help develop AWS-style services and automation tools that enable thousands of solution owners to discover, deploy, and manage their infrastructure needs independently.
Working alongside Senior SDEs and Principal Engineers, you'll implement features across foundational platform services, knowledge management systems, and AI-powered customer experiences. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, comfortable working across the stack, and excited about building tools that make complex infrastructure simple for customers.
Key job responsibilities
- Build self-service tools and platform features that enable infrastructure discovery, deployment, and management for operations teams across Amazon's global fulfillment network.
- Develop APIs, data pipelines, and integrations with AWS services and internal systems to create end-to-end automation that serves both technical and non-technical customer personas.
- Write well-tested, production-ready code from requirements gathering through implementation, testing, deployment, and operational assistance
- Work with product managers, UX designers, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver cohesive customer experiences and contribute to technical direction.
- Enable the reliability and performance of production services, participate in on-call rotations, and contribute to operational runbooks and monitoring improvements.
A day in the life
As a Systems Development Engineer on our team, you'll work on features across the CXI platform - implementing new capabilities, building integrations with infrastructure services, and contributing to AI-powered customer experiences. You'll be partnered with Senior SDEs and Principal Engineers who will guide your growth through code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical mentorship. You'll participate in sprint planning, contribute to design reviews, and gradually take on increasing ownership of features as you ramp. We encourage you to explore innovative AI tools and emerging technologies, bringing your learnings back to accelerate your development and drive innovation in self-service infrastructure solutions. This is a role where you'll grow your technical skills rapidly while contributing to products that directly impact Amazon's operations teams.

About the team
The Customer Experience Infrastructure (CXI) team is dedicated to accelerate self-service delivery for solutions teams deploying on Amazon Worldwide Operations infrastructure. We're building a portfolio of self-service infrastructure services and automation tools that enable rapid deployment, reduce operational complexity, and accelerate innovation for our customers.
You'll be joining a team that's at the forefront of infrastructure innovation, working on greenfield projects with significant business impact, and building solutions that directly enable Amazon's operations teams to move faster and more efficiently.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with distributed systems at scale
- Knowledge of database systems and SQL
- Knowledge of a front-end language (Javascript, CSS, HTML, etc.)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
