Job Summary:

Under supervision, processes HR related actions within agency HRIS system and resolving related problems. Processes payroll information, and all HR transactional information related to job assignment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Performs job responsibilities as assigned within HR unit.

Utilizes HRIS system Workday and all/any systems/platforms

Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas

Answers questions from employees or management regarding personnel and payroll transactions

Calculates and initiates payroll computation and deductions and enter data into computer system

Coordinates hiring processes, ensuring all required forms are completed and all clearances are obtained

Enters and verify personnel transactions

Explains benefits and human resource policies to employees and authorized persons

Processes and issues employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions

Processes enrollments and changes and responds to questions regarding the benefit programs

Provides information to employees and others on payroll matters, tax issues, and benefit plans

Responds to questions and provides information regarding employment

Reviews computation and other information in order to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies

Verifies attendance, hours worked, and pay adjustments, and post information onto designated records

Duties as assigned.

Entry Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience performing human resources job- related functions.
  • Or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level HR Tech 2 (HRT011) or position equivalent.

Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior proven high level experience within HCM systems such as workday, Peoplesoft, Payroll, Benefits, and 4+ years working within State government in applicable roles,
