  • Lead environmental permitting processes, including preparation, submittal, and negotiation of permit requirements with environmental authorities.
  • Conduct in‑depth environmental due diligence reviews for new site selection, liaising with internal stakeholders and following established processes.
  • Drive regional environmental programs by integrating with engineering, construction, and operations teams, fostering an environmentally responsible culture while maintaining environmental management processes and external accreditation.
  • Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards.
  • Develop, analyze, and present environmental metrics to measure, monitor, forecast performance, and horizon scan for risk; effectively communicate insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Submit time‑critical environmental reports to various governmental agencies.
  • Conduct thorough environmental audits and incident investigations, complete associated regulatory reporting, and develop and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in collaboration with operations and relevant stakeholders.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify and manage environmental risks early.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in environmental compliance and permitting, waste management, contractual, regulatory, and liability assessments, environmental permit evaluations, EIAs, and water discharge requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemical or environmental engineering, or related field with 7+ years serving as an environmental technical resource, compliance specialist, or program manager.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical abilities with experience in environmental reporting, documentation, investigations, and developing corrective actions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle regulatory deadlines with strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Strong communication skills in German and English, capable of collaborating with various departments, external stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
  • Required to be a national of an EU member state.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a data center or other critical environment, or in facilities management.
