VDW Logistics Fleet Manager
Position Type: Full-Time - Exempt
Compensation:$55,000 -$60,000 per year (+ bonus potential)
Reports To: DSP/Finance Manager
Potential Days: Monday-Saturday (actual days and hours TBD)
VDW Logistics is a Delivery Service Partner for Amazon Logistics. We have operated in Erie, PA for the past 5 years. We generally operate standard cargo vans and step vans typically leased, rented, or individually owned.
Basic Requirements
Must be 21 years old
Able to pass abackground check, drug screen, and motor vehicle check from an outside (3rd party) company
Must have familiarity with vehicles
Capable of working in a fast paced and highly pressured environment
Able to stand for long periods
Able to walk quickly and a lot during the you duties
Able to maneuver in and around vehicles constantly for minor repairs or fixes in a timely manner
Able to communicate in a professional and effective manner with vendors, partners, and Amazon contacts
Comfortable with computers, phones, software, and basic troubleshooting of electronic devices
Position Summary
The Fleet Manager is responsible for the overall management, readiness, compliance, maintenance, and performance of the companys vehicle fleet. This role ensures that all vehicles are safe, compliant, properly maintained, and available to support daily delivery operations. The Fleet Manager is accountable for maximizing fleet uptime, minimizing repair costs and vehicle downtime, and maintaining all required fleet documentation.
While the primary focus of this position is fleet management, the Fleet Manager will provide operational and dispatch support when necessary to ensure successful execution of daily delivery operations.
Essential Responsibilities
Personnel Management
- The role is allocated 1 part-time Fleet Helper to assist with inspections and reporting information
- You will manage this employee and ensure they are meeting all company criteria and performing inspections on all vans used in the operation each day.
Fleet Operations
- Maintain fleet availability of 100% to meet Okami targets.
- Ensure all vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and dispatch ready.
- Monitor vehicle condition and proactively identify maintenance needs.
- Coordinate all preventive maintenance programs, inspections, and repairs.
- Manage vehicle registration, insurance, licensing, and compliance requirements.
- Track vehicle warranties and ensure warranty repairs are completed whenever applicable.
- Conduct regular fleet audits and vehicle inspections.
- Maintain accurate fleet records and maintenance histories.
- Manage fleet inventory including spare tires, keys, fuel cards, charging equipment, and vehicle accessories.
Vehicle Maintenance & Repairs
- Schedule and oversee all preventive maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with repair vendors, dealerships, and body shops to manage costs and minimize vehicle downtime.
- Review repair estimates and authorize repairs within company guidelines.
- Track and report maintenance expenses and cost-per-mile metrics.
- Input and manage Amazon LSC cases.
- Submit and monitor FIF records/cases
- Manage AFS accounting
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure 100% compliance with VDWL/Amazon fleet standards and company policies.
- Review DVIC/Pre/Post Trip Inspection Sheets daily and ensure timely resolution of reported defects.
- Investigate vehicle-related incidents and coordinate repair and documentation processes.
- Maintain accurate accident records and support insurance claims processes.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and Amazon vehicle requirements.
Fleet Performance Management
- Track and report fleet KPIs on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Analyze fleet trends and identify opportunities to improve vehicle uptime and reduce costs.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce preventable damage and maintenance expenses.
- Provide recommendations for vehicle replacements and fleet expansion planning.
Operational Support
- When operational needs require additional leadership support, the Fleet Manager may:
- Assist dispatch personnel with route coverage planning.
- Support morning launch and evening debrief operations.
- Assist with driver communication and issue resolution.
- Provide coverage for dispatch functions during staffing shortages or peak operational periods.
- Support operational leadership with emergency staffing and route recovery efforts.
- Fleet management responsibilities shall remain the primary function of this role.
