Security First Managers is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize enterprise data solutions that support analytics, reporting, operational efficiency, and business growth. This role is responsible for developing scalable data architectures, managing database environments, integrating data across internal and external systems, and ensuring the integrity, security, and availability of critical business data.
What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and maintain relational databases, data models, data warehouses, and scalable database architectures that support reporting, analytics, and business operations.
  • Build, optimize, and support SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and high-performance data schemas to improve data accessibility and performance.
  • Develop data integration solutions and automated workflows that facilitate secure data exchange between Security First and external partners.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain database systems, ensuring availability, performance, backup/recovery readiness, capacity planning, and data integrity.
  • Perform advanced data analysis, transform raw data into actionable insights, and support business stakeholders with timely and accurate reporting.
  • Establish and enforce database standards, governance practices, security controls, and best practices across all database environments.
  • Support statutory, regulatory, operational, and ad hoc reporting requirements while meeting critical deadlines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with business teams to understand data needs, translate requirements into technical solutions, and deliver meaningful analytics and reporting capabilities.
  • Continuously improve data management methodologies, automation processes, and database performance while adopting new technologies and technical skills.
  • Participate in business continuity and catastrophe response efforts as needed, including support during weather-related or other critical business events.

What You'll Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five (5) years of experience in data engineering, analysis, business intelligence, or a related field
  • OR bachelor's degree in STEM degrees with 3 years of experience in engineering, analysis business intelligence, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, SQL database administration, Python, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
  • Three (3) years of managing and maintaining multiple SQL instances, supporting enterprise databases, database building, management, and user administration
  • Two (2) years of Statistical Data Modeling techniques experience
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience

Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters degree in relevant coursework
• Amazon Web Services (AWS)- including hands-on experience with Redshift Database
• Experience with ActiveBatch software
• Proficient with Python, C#, and PowerShell programming languages
• Microsoft Database technical certifications
• Five (5) years of Microsoft SQL Server Database experience
• Two (2) years of MySQL Database experience
• Experience working in the insurance industry especially with compliance reporting
• Experience in applied statistical analysis and reporting in a business environment using business intelligence software such as Tableau, Tableau Prep and/or Looker
