From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
Innovation is part of our DNA! Our goal is to be Earths' most customer centric company, and we are just getting started. We need people who want to join an ambitious program that continues to push the state of the art in space-based systems design and wireless systems.

- Follow detailed work instruction and obtain clarity when difficult to determine engineering intent
- Interpret electrical schematics and data sheets
- Document work performed and report discrepancies using electronic issue tracking software

A day in the life
The EE Avionics Dev team supports Amazon Leo's Electrical Engineering department by building and validating early satellite subsystem prototypes. Team members work from personal desks in the Avionics Lab, each equipped with precision soldering and microscope equipment. Work arrives through an electronic issue tracking system, but rarely follows a predictable schedule-most tasks are emergent and arrive with significant ambiguity. This unpredictability demands constant collaboration with electrical engineers to translate design intent into working hardware. Team members adjust their hours to match engineering schedules and shift priorities when program demands require it, ensuring prototype assembly/hardware test stays on track.
About the team
The EE Avionics Dev team is based in Redmond, Washington. Each member holds multiple IPC certifications and receives ongoing technical training to operate and maintain precision automated equipment. The team maintains a high quality standard, consistently delivering error-free workmanship. This combination of technical skill and lab capabilities enables the team to provide engineers with quick-turn service that unblocks critical test gates and accelerates design release to Amazon Leo production.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance or hands-on engineering environment experience
- 3+ years hands-on experience performing PCBA rework/modification/repair down to 0201 component size
- 3+ years of electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment experience
- 3+ years of hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance or hands-on engineering environment experience
- Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree or certificate in related field
- Certification in IPC-J-STD, IPC-7711/7721, IPC-620 and IPC-610
- A&P license
- Experience in development of space-based systems
- Experience using software system databases, communication services (i.e., Jira, Slack), and Microsoft office suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
