Job Description

The Global IP, Trademark and Brand Protection Counsel is responsible for safeguarding the company's brands, trademarks, intellectual property, products, and reputation across global online and offline channels. Reporting to the Global IP Trademark Manager, this role provides strategic legal counsel and operational support for trademark enforcement, brand protection programs, and anti-counterfeiting initiatives. The position advises on trademark and intellectual property matters, manages enforcement actions, and partners with internal stakeholders, external counsel, regulatory authorities, and third-party service providers to identify, prevent, and address infringement, counterfeiting, and unauthorized use of the company's intellectual property rights worldwide.

Job Duties
  • Develop and execute global trademark enforcement and brand protection strategies to safeguard the company's intellectual property, products, brands, and reputation.
  • Monitor and assess global online and offline environments for counterfeit, unauthorized, or infringing use of the company's trademarks, products, and intellectual property.
  • Conduct legal analysis and investigations related to trademark infringement, counterfeiting, cybersquatting, and other intellectual property violations, and recommend appropriate enforcement actions.
  •  Manage trademark enforcement activities, including the preparation, review, and oversight of cease-and-desist letters, takedown notices, domain name complaints, and other corrective measures.
  • Partner with external service providers, investigators, outside counsel, marketplace operators, and platform representatives to support brand protection initiatives and address infringement and unauthorized sales activity.
  • Provide legal counsel on trademark and brand protection matters, including intellectual property rights, platform policies, enforcement mechanisms, trademark usage, and associated business risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including marketing, commercial, compliance, regulatory, and legal teams, to ensure alignment on global brand protection priorities and enforcement strategies.
  • Support trademark portfolio management activities, including trademark clearance, prosecution coordination, maintenance, and enforcement matters.
  • Monitor infringement trends and emerging risks, and prepare reports, metrics, and recommendations to evaluate enforcement effectiveness and support continuous improvement of brand protection programs.
Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience practicing trademark law, including trademark enforcement, prosecution, brand protection, or related intellectual property matters.
  • Experience handling trademark disputes, infringement matters, cease-and-desist programs, domain name disputes, and online enforcement activities.
  • Knowledge of U.S. trademark law, including the Lanham Act and related intellectual property laws.
  • Experience working with global online marketplaces, digital platforms, social media platforms, and intellectual property enforcement programs.
  • Experience advising business clients and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in the MedTech, healthcare, life sciences, or regulated products industry.
  • Experience with anti-counterfeiting, gray market, unauthorized reseller, and online marketplace enforcement programs.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Brand Registry, e-commerce platform enforcement tools, and domain name dispute procedures (UDRP).
  • Experience managing outside counsel and third-party enforcement providers.
  • Trademark prosecution experience before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Experience supporting global trademark portfolios and international enforcement initiatives.
  • Experience working on cross-functional projects involving legal, commercial, marketing, and compliance stakeholders.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Ability to exercise sound legal judgment and provide practical, business-oriented advice.
  • Positive attitude a must; sense of humor a plus.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position in this location is $154,866.00 - $216,812.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
