Job description

Overview

Join a big-five publisher and be part of our mission to inspire the world. The Fiction team for HarperCollins Christian Publishing prides itself on strong author relationships, award-winning content, and a cohesive team environment. We are currently seeking a Senior Manager of Online Marketing. The team leads two imprints. First, is Thomas Nelson Fiction, which publishes Christian authors writing for both the Christian and the general markets, including bestselling authors such as Charles Martin, Colleen Coble, Terri Blackstock, Karen Kingsbury, Melissa Ferguson, Vanessa Miler, Mario Escobar, and many others. And secondly, Harper Curated Classics, which publishes deluxe editions of beloved classic novels.

The focus of this role is to oversee and execute tactics that facilitate the sale of our books online. The Senior Manager will plan, execute, and manage all paid ad and affiliate/branded campaigns on Amazon and across social media platforms for frontlist and select backlist titles. This includes running highly effective paid ad campaigns and continually optimizing (daily/weekly) those ads through testing, keyword analysis, bidding strategy, etc. for best performance. Our websites are vehicles for purchasing books, and as a result, this role will also work with IT and other teams to manage our two websites and create landing pages for each of our books.

Each book is a “product”, and this role is responsible for determining the appropriate consumer-facing paid advertising on Amazon and social media that’s needed to successfully launch and sell each book. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for the ROI analysis and reporting of results for each campaign, to ensure they are driving sales and growth that will meet the defined monthly and annual revenue goals. Additionally, this position will facilitate any needed affiliate campaigns and/or paid partnership ads / branded content, and work with internal teams to ensure proper TikTok Shop product set-up.

Between the two imprints, we release approximately 45 new frontlist books / products per year across multiple genres – allowing the Senior Manager ample opportunities for creative and dynamic new product launches and continual variety. In this role, you will be able to own the paid ad process from start to finish, proactively plan for new campaigns, report on campaign data and interpret the findings, and use those learnings to inform future campaigns.

Our preference is to fill this position in Nashville, TN but we are also open to applications from remote, qualified candidates located in the US. Travel may be required based on the need of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Amazon ad campaign strategy and efforts for the fiction team:

  • Run all Amazon campaigns so that our overall Amazon performance meets or beats internal and industry benchmarks; monitor the performance of campaigns and stores for efficiency. Manage brand stores and stories, affiliate campaigns, seasonal promotions, Prime Day campaigns, and all Amazon A+ publisher content.

  • Establish procedures to track and report Amazon campaign performance; manage overall Amazon budget and invoices.

  • Execute paid social media ad buys, setup target audiences, budgets, and bids – create, manage, and optimize campaigns on Meta (Facebook/Instagram), TikTok, Google, YouTube, and Pinterest.

  • Collaborate with teams to execute affiliate marketing campaigns, branded content, and brand partnerships, including ensuring our books are in TikTok Shop and included in overall HarperCollins campaigns.

  • Coordinate with team members to ensure the assets needed for all paid ads have been created based on ad best practices for each platform, especially videos needed for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube ads.

  • Ensure campaign segments, costs, audiences / audience models, and targeting are properly set-up, functioning, and optimized to run efficiently and meet (or surpass) industry standards and benchmarks.

  • Make weekly/bi-weekly updates to our websites as books release and leverage website templates to create landing pages for each book. Provide updates on website performance. Work with IT and internal teams when website maintenance and functionality updates are needed.

  • Responsible for the ROI analysis and providing clear and timely reporting – monitor and track progress of campaigns, and make real-time adjustments. Provide reporting, recommendations, insights, budgeting suggestions, and updates on performance of all paid campaigns.

  • Work closely with marketing managers and editorial team to ensure each title has the best Amazon A+ content, metadata, SEO, and keywords.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert and day‑to‑day lead on all paid ad campaigns.

  • Stay on top of digital, consumer, and publishing trends, and develop and execute opportunities based on trends in order to improve performance and ad conversion.

  • Leverage strong communication skills to participate in meetings and collaborate with others internally, and inform others regarding website and ad strategy, performance, and recommendations.

  • Other projects deemed necessary for the success of the team and organization – for example, potentially participating in author‑facing calls, and webinars/trainings with authors, to occasionally explain the paid ad process.
