About Our Family

We are a busy, active household based in the heart of Houston, and we are in an exciting season of transition. Our family of four includes two kids: one grade-schooler starting homeschool and one a near-independent teenager, plus a large and lovable Cane Corso who is very much part of the family.

Both parents work full-time, with one maintaining a flexible hybrid schedule and the other working outside the home five days a week. Our home is lively and warm, but sometimes a bit chaotic in this current chapter. We are wrapping up our time in a short-term home and building a new home just blocks away that will be purpose-built for how we actually want to live. We need someone who can help us get through this transition and then grow into that new space with us.

We have some household support already in place - a weekly cleaning crew and part-time help for the kids after school - but we need someone who can help with the day-to-day management of the home, own the rhythm of our household, and keep things running smoothly in the background.

We are looking for someone who will feel like a true partner in this home - not just an employee, but someone who takes pride in what they do and genuinely cares about lightening the load and making life easier for the people they work with.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You are a seasoned household professional who does not need to be shown how a home works. You understand systems, you create them where they do not exist, and you maintain them without being reminded. You are warm, friendly, and bring good energy to the spaces you work in. You are organized and consistent, and your follow-through is something people count on. Bonus points if you are computer literate and comfortable managing online orders, calendars, and building simple household systems or portals!

You are a strong communicator especially at the start of a new role, and you know that more communication is better than less when you are still learning a household. Your goal over time is to reach a level of autonomy where you just know what needs to happen and handle it, checking in only when something comes up or a decision is needed. You understand that there are windows in the day - homeschool hours, client appointments - where interruptions are not appropriate, and you plan your work around those natural rhythms. If this sounds like how you already operate, we want to hear from you.

Key ResponsibilitiesHousehold Organization & Maintenance
  • Own the daily reset of the home (a top priority) - tidying surfaces, dishes, high-traffic areas
  • Prepare the home for the cleaning crew and communicate directly with cleaners about specific needs or supply gaps
  • Manage the upcoming move: packing, unpacking, and setting up organizational systems in the new home
  • Seasonal swaps for clothing, bedding, and decor
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Maintain indoor plants
  • Handle ongoing household maintenance tasks such as replacing batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors
  • Clean and maintain air purifiers
  • Manage and reset outdoor spaces including pool area and patio at the new home
Inventory & Errands
  • Own the household supply list and restock pantry, fridge, and household essentials
  • Manage online orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target) including building toward a streamlined click-and-collect grocery system
  • Handle returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping for kids' events, and mail and package sorting
  • Break down boxes and keep entryways clear
Meal Support
  • Assist with meal prep approximately 3 days per week, with a focus on shortening the dinner prep process (have ingredients on hand, washed, chopped, marinated, etc.)
  • Prep snacks: washed and cut fruit, protein balls, muffins, and other healthy options
  • Have school lunch ingredients on hand for one child; assist the older child as needed with weekly lunch prep
  • Handle 1-2 grocery store runs per week and work toward a click-and-collect ordering system
  • Kitchen clean-up and maintenance throughout the day
Laundry & Linens
  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry for the kids
  • Linen rotation including sheets and towels
  • Occasional steaming and special garment care
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area
Family Support
  • Light supervision and back-up childcare as needed
  • Prep sports bags, backpacks, snacks, and clothing for the kids
  • Assist with kid-related scheduling (appointments, activities) and errands
  • Manage the household Skylight calendar
  • Track household-related expenses and receipts
  • Coordinate vendor and appointment scheduling as directed
Pet Care
  • Feed the family dog twice daily using a raw and kibble mix (raw in the morning); assist with portioning and freezing raw food
  • Administer supplements with meals
  • Walk the dog at the current home; oversee yard time at the new home
  • Maintain pet supplies and schedule grooming appointments
  • Clean dog beds regularly
Vehicle Upkeep
  • Occasional fueling, cleaning, and organizing of the family vehicle
