Summary:
The Network Manager will be responsible for the design, development, documentation, implementation/testing, and modification of all network infrastructures for the district. The Network Manager is responsible for cybersecurity, disaster recovery, system availability, regulatory compliance, vendor management, and network architecture across all district facilities.
This includes analyzing, testing and modification of Servers, Switches, Routers, PRI/Telco-related, Firewall, Azure/AD, Veeam, AWS, VPN, and data backup systems. The Network Manager will act as the primary manager of the daily network operations. In conjunction with the Director of Educational Technology, the Network Manager will learn the needs of the district to provide network integrity and great customer service.
Responsibilities:
  • Align network services for the purpose of following the district's mission, vision, and values.
  • Conduct research on network/server products, services, standards, and best practices for the purpose of staying current with technology trends.
  • Assist with the coordination of network related projects (e.g., servers, switches, WAPs, UPSs, etc.) for the purpose of completing designs, planning, purchasing, installation, configuration, maintenance, and testing of the ZPS data network.
  • Ensure reliable network connectivity and performance for classroom instruction, online learning platforms, state testing, and district operations.
  • Maintain network readiness and bandwidth capacity for online assessments and instructional applications.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain network/server administrative authorizations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the processes and documentation for network/server managements (i.e. asset, capacity, change, configuration, continuity, lifecycle, problem, release, vendor, and definitive media library).
  • Database integration for systems such as Infinite Campus, Clever, Google Classroom and others as needed. The Network Manager will create .csv, .txt, comma/tab delimited files to import/export student information into district applications.
  • Manage network/server services and documentation (e.g. active directory, backups, disaster recovery, DNS, IP addressing, data architecture, network traffic monitoring/shaping, non-technical (end user) training, performance statistics, physical architecture, quality control, remote access, security and service) for the purpose of having effective network operations.
  • Develop and maintain automated processes and tools to support the network environment.
  • Assists with network/workstation policies and image development.
  • Provide excellent customer service onsite and remotely to all ZPS network users.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Education Technology.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Networking/Cybersecurity or related field and/or 5+ years' experience in LAN/WAN analysis; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.
  • Three to five years' experience with LAN/WAN networking responsibilities. Managing Switches, VLAN, Firewalls, Routers, Network Print and SAN management. Extreme and/or Juniper network management preferred.
  • Three to five years' experience managing MS/AD/Azure Networks, Amazon Web Services, VMWare environments, creating/maintaining GPOs, MS Server Configuration and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Experience installing, configuring, repairing, and maintaining Microsoft Active Directory (AD) Azure/Intune environments required.
  • Hyper-V and VEEAM experience preferred.
  • Experience implementing and managing cybersecurity frameworks, endpoint protection, MFA, email security, vulnerability management, and incident response procedures.
  • Knowledge of K-12 student data privacy requirements, including FERPA, CIPA, COPPA, and applicable state privacy regulations.
  • SAN Administration preferred. HP/Synology system experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Server 2016/2019/2022/2025 administration experience.
  • GCDS, Google Password Sync and G-Suite Admin integration experience.
  • CSV/Text File management to create file imports to and from SIS and district applications.
  • Ability to work off hours or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to be on-call for emergencies as needed.
  • Manage and maintain network security systems including firewalls, endpoint protection, content filtering, MFA, SIEM/log management, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Proven ability to identify and diagnose problems related to computer systems, hardware/software, and apply preventative/corrective measures.
  • Ability to research, test, and collect information on new ideas/concepts and possess a strong conceptual background in technological issues with careful, well thought out implementations.
  • Must be self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal, communication, and skills.
  • Must possess excellent writing and verbal presentation skills.
