CNC Metal Forming Operator - Press Brake Specialist
Location: Newport News, VA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Available Shifts: 1st and 3rd Shift
Compensation: Starting at $18.00/hour (higher pay available based on experience and technical ability)
Position Overview
We are currently hiring a skilled CNC Metal Forming Operator to support sheet metal fabrication operations in a production environment focused on precision and efficiency. This role is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC press brake equipment to manufacture high-quality formed metal components.
The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of press brake operations, blueprint interpretation, tooling setup, and quality inspection procedures.
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC press brake machinery, including selecting tooling, loading programs, and configuring production settings
  • Prepare equipment for fabrication runs involving light-gauge sheet metal bending and forming
  • Interpret blueprints, bend sequences, work instructions, and material specifications to ensure production accuracy
  • Inspect parts throughout production using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
  • Troubleshoot forming issues including spring back, tooling wear, alignment concerns, and material inconsistencies
  • Modify machine settings and tooling configurations to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality
  • Perform routine machine inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic troubleshooting on equipment and tooling
  • Maintain accurate production records including setup details, material usage, and completed quantities
  • Follow established workplace safety procedures and maintain an organized work environment
  • Work independently while making informed decisions related to machine setup and fabrication processes

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating CNC press brake machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications
  • Experience working with galvanized steel, stainless steel, and aluminum materials
  • Proficient with precision measurement tools including calipers and micrometers
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Solid math and measurement skills related to fabrication work
  • Ability to lift between 50-75 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks including standing, bending, and squatting for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in varying industrial temperature conditions

Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with graphical CNC control interfaces
  • Experience with manual press brake equipment
  • Strong organizational skills and situational awareness in a production setting
