Hospitalist Opportunity At Alta Bates Summit Medical Center

Alta Bates Summit Medical Center is home to the largest and most complex hospitalist program in Sutter East Bay, serving as a regional referral center for high-acuity medical, surgical, oncologic, and specialty care across multiple campuses.

Our hospitalists are the clinical backbone of the medical center—caring for the majority of hospitalized patients, co-managing complex surgical and subspecialty populations, and partnering closely with nursing, case management, specialists, and hospital leadership to drive quality, flow, and patient experience.

This role offers the opportunity to practice high-acuity inpatient medicine within a large, well-supported, and highly collaborative group, with exposure to teaching, quality improvement, and program development. Physicians join a mature division with strong operational infrastructure, engaged physician leadership, and a culture that values clinical excellence, teamwork, and professional growth.

Hospitalists at Alta Bates Summit care for a diverse and medically complex patient population and play a central role in advancing system-wide initiatives in quality, safety, efficiency, and care redesign. Opportunities exist for leadership development, academic engagement, and participation in innovative inpatient programs as part of one of Northern California's leading integrated health systems.
