Job description

South Valley Almond Company is seeking an experienced Processing Manager to join our almond processing plant team!
Summary:
The Processing Manager is responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the processing plant. This role ensures the facility operates safely, efficiently, and meets production, quality, and customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily plant operations, including processing, storage, shipping, and equipment performance.
  • Ensure production targets for volume, quality, cost, and timelines are met.
  • Maintain a safe, compliant workplace and ensure readiness for audits (FDA, GFSI, and other regulatory bodies).
  • Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards in partnership with quality teams.
  • Hire, train, and lead staff, while developing supervisors and promoting a strong safety and performance culture.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and other sites to align operations and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage operating and capital budgets while controlling costs and improving efficiency.
  • Maintain facility readiness for customer visits and inspections.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, agriculture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of management experience in a processing or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of production, quality, inventory, and team leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to use basic math and data to support operations.
  • Strong communication skills; able to work across teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Bilingual Spanish (preferred).
  • Must obtain/maintain required certifications (e.g., QAC).

Other Information
  • Standing and walking through plant; occasional lifting up to ~50 lbs; intermittent climbing stairs or platforms; hand use for controls and devices; strong vision and awareness for monitoring operations; physical exertion is intermittent.
  • Processing facility with some office time; exposure to machinery, noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature changes; variable schedules including extended hours; PPE required in designated production areas.
