Job description

Patient Access Representative

Purpose of Position: Patient Access is the first point of contact for all patients accessing the facility(s). Greet patient and family members. Obtain all necessary information for all patient types to initiate care, treatment and billing by completing entry into multiple systems.

Skills and Qualifications: High school graduate, minimum Typing at least 35 wpm Knowledge of Patient Access process, Clinical Care process and Revenue Cycle Knowledge of medical terminology and managed care concepts preferred Refined communication skills, both written and oral Ability to cope with the stress of the position and deadlines imposed Refined organization skills with a well-developed style of diplomacy Ability to function independently, displaying personal integrity and always maintaining confidentiality Professional manner and appearance in accordance to the Aultman Hospital policies Knowledge of computer and the software systems utilized by the clinical, registration and patient financial services departments

Responsibilities Expectations: Receive and process requests for all direct admissions and Aultman Access transfers Enter and verify all patient and clinical demographic information into appropriate system(s) Assure rules and regulations are followed based on each payer requirement Verify eligibility for insurances utilizing electronic verifications system Scan photo ids, insurance information and HIPAA documents into imaging system Offer direction and education to patients on financial assistance and/or YYC Enter admissions for any admitting patient. Provide face sheet, wristband and other appropriate letters or forms to unit Assist bed nurse in assignment of appropriate beds and bed assignment using the Bed Management System Discharge and/or transfer of all patients in the ADT or other appropriate system using phys orders Perform census balance of all beds and all units Assure ADT status in sync with Cerner order at all times Escort patients to their rooms and perform hand off process with clinical staff Provide assistance to patients and family members in admitting waiting area Assure that ADT and clinical systems are in sync at all times Understanding of multiple systems (MPAC, Cerner, FirstNet, Surginet, RelayHealth, AHIQA, Onbase, Allscripts) Knowledge and ability to execute all downtime processes Serve as Centralized/Surgery Scheduling back up during off shift days and hours

Working Conditions: Varied shift hours. Rotating weekends and holidays Subject to constant interruptions, multi-tasking and balancing priorities Exposure to patients and family members without clinical staff present
