What is an allied health assistant?

Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) are healthcare support workers who assist allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists. They help with implementing therapy programs, preparing equipment, and supporting patients during their rehabilitation or treatment. AHAs work under the supervision of qualified professionals, ensuring patients receive effective care and support. Their roles can vary depending on the healthcare setting, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and community health services.

How does an allied health assistant typically collaborate with other healthcare professionals in a clinical setting?

Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) frequently work under the supervision of allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists. They assist by following treatment plans, preparing equipment, and supporting patients during therapy sessions.
