Job description

At Allianz Life, we are driven by our mission - we secure your future - and by our common goal of caring for tomorrow. We care for our employees by promoting an inclusive culture where everyone has the opportunity to grow and be rewarded for their success. We care for our customers by creating new products that help them protect their families and pursue their retirement goals. We care for our community by giving time, resources, and donations. And we care for the future by supporting sustainability, protecting the local environment, and promoting equality in our communities.
We are seeking a senior, experienced leader to help guide the expansion of our Life business evolution. The Director, Life Business Profile & Market Enablement provides an outside-in market and operating perspective to support leadership decision-making as the Life business continues to scale and mature.
This role works in close partnership with the Life End-to-End Leader, Life Product Manager, and Strategy teams to accelerate our Life growth alongside ongoing core activity. The role complements strong internal expertise by bringing broader market context, historical perspective, and practical judgment drawn from real-world experience.
The position's objective is to expand our Life presence through Product, Distribution, and Experience in a sustainable and strategic manner.
What you do:
Business Profile & Market Enablement
  • Help define and refine the intended Life business profile, including how the business is positioned, operated, and experienced over time.
  • Assess whether initiatives and decisions reinforce a coherent and sustainable business model.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and develop plans to activate the growth.
  • Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative AI).

Decision Sequencing & Readiness
  • Support leadership in evaluating the order and pacing of Life initiatives to ensure readiness across product, operations, and market engagement.
  • Highlight dependencies, prerequisites, and second-order effects that influence outcomes.
  • Champion the changes required across stakeholders to turn strategy into action.

Applied Market & Industry Perspective
  • Bring an external, experience-based perspective informed by prior roles within Permanent/Universal Life Insurance markets.
  • Translate observed market behavior, historical outcomes, and industry patterns into practical implications for current decisions.
  • Help leadership understand implications of decisions.

Operational & Adoption Implications
  • Evaluate proposals and concepts through a combined lens of:
    • Market receptivity
    • Implementation complexity
    • Ongoing operational sustainability
  • Flag areas where additional preparation, simplification, or alignment may be required prior to execution.

Thought Partnership & Advisory Support
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to Life leadership in key discussion forums.
  • Contribute perspective that helps surface assumptions, clarify tradeoffs, and support confident decision-making.

What This Role Is Not
  • Not an implementation role
  • Not a replacement for corporate strategy, competitive intelligence, or operations

This role exists to accelerate expansion efforts consistent with Allianz Life strengths and capabilities.
What you bring:
  • 12+ years of experience in life insurance, with meaningful exposure to Permanent/Universal Life Insurance products.
  • Prior roles with business-level responsibility or influence, such as:
    • Carrier leadership roles informing product, market, or operating decisions
    • Market-facing or intermediary-adjacent roles with insight into adoption dynamics
  • Demonstrated ability to apply experience and judgment to complex, cross-functional decisions.
  • Proven credibility working with senior leaders as a thought partner and advisor.
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes holders of H-1B, H4, L-1, L-2, TN, OPT, CPT, and other nonimmigrant visas.

Job posting range $120,000 - $180,500
Note the job posting range is exclusive of company benefits or other compensation. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive program. If you are hired, your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, experience, skills, competencies, and/or education. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
