Job description

A 445+ bed acute care hospital in Houston, TX is seeking a Nurse Manager RN for its Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). The hospital holds accreditation as an MBSAQIP Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center and an accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI, and operates two intensive care units — a SICU and a MICU — serving the greater Houston area.

The role. The Nurse Manager leads the MICU team in delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care, overseeing continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring nursing practice standards are consistently applied across the unit. This leader assesses patient conditions, monitors changes throughout each shift, and ensures thorough documentation of care provided. The Nurse Manager plays an integral role within an interdisciplinary team — collaborating with physicians, surgeons, surgical technologists, and other care partners — while applying critical thinking, scientific judgment, and technical expertise to support safe nursing care delivery. The position also encompasses patient and family education regarding medical conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up measures.

What we're looking for.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or health related field highly preferred
  • Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN) required
  • National certification in relevant specialty practice area and/or Administration within six months of hire
  • Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
  • Must have five years of recent nursing experience required
  • One year of recent supervisory experience in direct patient care activities as assistant nurse manager or charge nurse required
  • Candidates must have CVICU experience to be considered

Schedule. Full-time, Days, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM; no weekends.

Compensation. $41.58 - $61.87/hr plus Sign-on bonus available
