Job description

Systems and Infrastructure Technician

The Systems & Infrastructure Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operation and support of the Credit Union’s technology environment. This role combines hands-on user support with infrastructure and network operations. The position supports IT operations and helps maintain standards for system reliability, security, documentation, and maintenance to ensure systems, workstations, and branch technologies remain secure, reliable, and well-documented.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for staff. Diagnose and resolve technical issues with laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, Wi-Fi, VPN, and business applications. Resolve helpdesk requests, document work, and escalate complex issues to other IT team members, internal subject matter experts, and/or vendor support. Troubleshoot conference room equipment, VoIP phones, and other shared devices. Deploy and maintain user workstations. 
  •  Perform regular system and workstation patching and maintenance. Monitor server, network, and endpoint alerts; triage and escalate issues. Monitor backup systems and assist with disaster recovery testing. Track and manager certificates, endpoint agents, and monitoring tools. Assist with routine network and server operational tasks, including connectivity monitoring, service restarts, and scheduled maintenance support.
  •  Create user accounts, reset passwords, assign permissions, and support identity tools such as Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, or similar platforms. Onboard and offboard users, including preparing equipment, provisioning access, and securely deactivating access upon employee separation.
  •  Maintain security standards by enforcing MFA, managing antivirus/EDR alerts, supporting endpoint security tools, and educating users on safe practices.
  •  Document procedures and fixes, create knowledge base articles, update asset records, maintain IT inventories, and track configuration changes.

Knowledge & Skills:

Experience: Three years of similar or related experience in configuring, deploying, and supporting PCs, networks, and related devices. experience in financial services is desired. Experience in a financial institution or regulated environment is preferred.

Education: A high school education or equivalent. A+ certification preferred; Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or Azure certifications are desirable.      

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.  Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.  Must be comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, mental alertness, punctuality, dependability, and a cooperative attitude when working with employees, members and vendors. 

Other Skills: Must have an understanding of common IT systems, software, hardware, infrastructure, telephony, peripherals, and troubleshooting methods. Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and ability to support users across multiple locations. The ability to organize workflow, work independently using sound judgement, and use thorough change management processes. Ability to build rapport and project a calm and patient demeanor in stressful situations. Must be bondable.
