Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Lead Mechanic/ Shop Supervisor, the Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing and operating diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic mechanical equipment and vehicles within the company fleet. TASKS:
  • Implement the safety program in accordance with company standards
  • Ensure a safe, orderly, and functional work environment is maintained
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, operation analysis, and repairs on diesel, pneumatic, hydraulic and general automotive systems
  • Diagnose mechanical and operational problems on all mechanical equipment
  • Complete work orders and assigned daily tasks, as well proper assigned documentation
  • Make necessary corrections and running adjustments, to equipment, to maintain maximum production and quality
  • Utilize and maintain diagnostic to test the functionality of equipment
  • Ensure quality standards are met during repairs and preventative maintenance of all mechanical equipment
  • Provide mechanical support in the field to diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment
  • Conduct preventive maintenance checks and inspections of mechanical equipment
  • Ensure reoccurring equipment malfunctions are detected and corrective actions are taken
  • Attend and complete any and all educational classes that are required by the company
  • Ensures equipment is compliant with all regulations and standards
  • Perform all duties of a Mechanic, as needed
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor

REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES:
  • Physical Ability- Physically stand or walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for long periods, use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects, lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds, climb up and down ladders and scaffolds; Able to work productively in a variety of weather conditions.

  • Active Listening- Gives full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interruption at inappropriate times
  • Speaking and Writing- Communicates effectively with clients and co-workers
  • Reading Comprehension - Understands written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
  • Service Orientation - Ability to work in high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
  • Critical Thinking - Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solution, conclusions or approaches to problems

  • Speech Clarity and Recognition - Speaks clearly so others can understand, and can identify and understand the speech of another person
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), iPad/iPhone based applications, as well as proprietary software required
  • Travel - Occasional travel with week-long stays when needed
  • Working knowledge in diesel, pneumatic, hydraulic and general automotive repair
  • Knowledge and ability to work a Telehandler and forklift

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
  • Preferred: Associates degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Preferred: At least 2 years' experience in diesel, pneumatic, hydraulic and general automotive repair preferred
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Preferred: CDL
  • CPR, First Aid certification, OSHA 30, SSPC C-3 Worker Lead may be obtained prior to and/ or upon employment
