Albert Einstein College of Medicine offers one of the nationโ€™s largest programs for medical education. During the 2025-26 academic year, the College of Medicine was home to more than 1,900 full-time faculty members, 680 M.D. students, 226 Ph.D. students, 126 students in the combined M.D.-Ph.D. program. More than 11,000 Einstein alumni are among the nationโ€™s foremost clinicians, biomedical scientists and medical educators. In 2024, a transformational gift ensures that all students in Einsteinโ€™s M.D. program have their tuition and fees fully covered by the David S. And Ruth L. Gottesman Scholarship Fund.

A long-time national leader in biomedical research, Einstein receives approximately $190 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) each year. Albert Einstein College of Medicine seeks an experienced academic leader to serve as Vice Dean for Education, a role with enterprise-wide responsibility for one of the nationโ€™s largest and most impactful medical and graduate education portfolios. The Vice Dean reports to Dr. Yaron Tomer, the Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean at Einstein and Chief Academic Officer of Montefiore Einstein. The Vice Dean will provide strategic and operational leadership across the full continuum of medical and graduate education at Einstein, overseeing admissions, student experience, academic programs, curricula, student health, student finance, and administrative functions of the programs. This leader will oversee the Offices of Medical Education, Graduate Education, Student Affairs, Admissions, and Student Financial Aid, while leading a collaborative and high-performing team of Associate Deans and administrative leaders committed to educational excellence.

The Vice Dean for Education will oversee the continued evolution and advancement of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine curriculum, with responsibility for the M.D., Ph.D., and M.D.-Ph.D. programs. This leader will champion a supportive learning environment across Einstein and Montefiore, ensuring that learners are equipped to meet the evolving needs of patients and communities while advancing high-quality care for all. In partnership with faculty and institutional leaders, the Vice Dean will promote ongoing enhancement of educational programs through a comprehensive Continuous Quality Improvement framework and a robust learning communities model for students.This leader will actively guide the institution through its accreditation processes, including with the LCME and Middle States Commission on Higher Education, while ensuring compliance and addressing opportunities for improvement.

Externally, this leader will cultivate and manage key education partnerships with Jacobi Medical Center and other affiliated institutions. This leader will also manage key relationships with relevant national organizations, including the LCME and AAMC.

The Vice Dean will establish and maintain collaborative relationships across Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Einstein, fostering alignment and integration among the institutionโ€™s research, educational, and clinical missions. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Vice Dean for Education will work closely with fellow Senior Associate Deans and institutional leaders to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and further elevate academic excellence across Einstein.

The successful candidate for the role of Vice Dean for Education will be an accomplished leader, educator, and physician. The ideal candidate will have extensive administrative leadership experience and have a distinguished track record in educating and training the next generation of physicians and scientists. The successful candidate will bring exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, along with the judgment, creativity, and decisiveness necessary to lead effectively within a complex, highly matrixed academic medical environment while building broad consensus among diverse stakeholders.

Additional qualifications and experience include:

ยท M.D., M.D.-Ph.D. or equivalent degree required.

ยท 5-10 years of senior administrative leadership experience at high-performing school of medicine or relevant institution, serving as a Senior Associate Dean, Associate Dean, , Department Chair and/or another relevant senior education leadership role.

ยท Accomplished academic leader with experience overseeing complex medical education portfolios, including curriculum strategy and educational programming at the graduate level.

ยท Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture centered on educating and preparing the next generation of physicians, scientists, and healthcare leaders.

ยท Recognized educator with advanced expertise in medical education and education-related scholarship, as well as familiarity with the national organizations and regulatory bodies that shape medical education in the United States, including the LCME and Middle States.

ยท Proven ability to lead effectively within large, highly matrixed organizations, with strong organizational instincts, sound administrative judgment, and operational agility.

ยท Experience in recruiting, mentoring, developing, and retaining high-performing faculty, administrative leaders, and interdisciplinary teams.

ยท Collaborative and relationship-oriented leadership style, with the ability to build trust, cultivate consensus, and partner effectively with stakeholders across all levels of an academic medical enterprise and with external partners.
