Overview

The University of Alaska Fairbanks College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences invites applications for one or more tenure‑track faculty positions (9‑month annual support) at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Fisheries based in Fairbanks, Alaska. Applicants with strong scientific and academic backgrounds committed to fostering excellence in undergraduate and graduate education are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will complement the broad expertise of existing faculty and contribute to high‑quality research, teaching, and service. UAF is a federally recognized Alaska Native‑serving institution that supports bridging Indigenous and Western sciences.

Responsibilities

Develop and lead a productive and externally funded research program focused on fisheries biology, ecology, management, or social sciences, with an emphasis on Alaska’s fisheries and ecosystems and involving students and postdoctoral researchers.

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, with a particular focus on the undergraduate fisheries program through both instruction and advising.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified applicants must have a Ph.D. in fisheries, biology, ecology, economics, anthropology, or a closely related field. Postdoctoral research experience is preferred. Applicants must be proficient in English, have experience teaching at the university level, and have a strong research, publication and funding record, commensurate with experience.

An unrestricted Alaska driver’s license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction. Applicants who now or may in the future require visa sponsorship are not eligible.

Position Details

This is a full‑time, Fair Labor Standards Act exempt, tripartite tenure‑track faculty position, providing a competitive salary (starting pay is DOE) and a full employee benefits package. Position will be based on the main Troth Yedda' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska.
