Ramp Agent
GAT Airline Ground Support is seeking dynamic, capable, and dependable individuals to join our team of aviation professionals. This position requires no prior experience, offering an excellent opportunity to begin your career in the aviation industry.

Position Overview:
As a Ramp Agent, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of customer baggage, operating ground service equipment, and coordinating the servicing of arriving and departing aircraft. You will also prepare aircraft cabins for departure, assist with ramp services (including waste disposal and re-servicing of aircraft), and assist customers as needed. This position may require you to work with multiple carriers and fulfill various duties as assigned. Ramp Agents must be comfortable interacting with customers and proficient in using computers. The role requires the ability to work under stress, meet rigid time constraints, and work outdoors in various weather and noise conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely lift, load, unload, and transport baggage, mail, and cargo from the aircraft to the airport
  • Guide aircraft to and from gate positions to maintain on-time connections
  • Protect baggage and other equipment from damage, loss, and adverse weather conditions
  • Operate ground equipment such as tugs, cargo carts, service trucks, and belt loaders
  • Ensure ground equipment is available in the ramp area and bag room for upcoming flights
  • Prepare the cabin for customer boarding, including cleaning seats, seat pockets, floors, galleys, and lavatories
  • Assist with record-keeping and documentation to ensure accurate routing of baggage
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain safe working conditions for yourself and others
  • Communicate effectively with managers and lead agents to manage daily schedules
  • Report equipment issues and breakdowns to facilitate quick repairs
  • Work with multiple carriers, as needed, and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Able to work in extreme conditions (e.g., hot and cold weather) and small spaces
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must be able to read, speak, and understand the English language fluently. Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping and baggage routing
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage time effectively
  • Must pass an extensive post-offer, pre-employment background check, including fingerprinting and a criminal history record check as mandated by federal law.
  • Must successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug test.
