SUMMARY OVERVIEW 

The Ramp Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating activities on the airport ramp to ensure the efficient and safe handling of aircraft and ground services. This role involves coordinating with a team of ramp personnel, handling the loading and unloading of baggage and cargo, and ensuring adherence to safety and operational procedures. The Ramp Lead will communicate with flight crews, ground staff, and operations control to facilitate timely aircraft turnarounds. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Guide inbound/outbound aircraft to and from gate without damage or injury 
  • Communicate effectively with flight crews, ground staff, and operations control to ensure timely aircraft turnarounds 
  • Conduct regular inspections of the ramp area and equipment to maintain safety standards 
  • Respond to operational challenges and troubleshoot issues as they arise 
  • Train and mentor ramp staff on best practices and safety protocols 
  • Maintain accurate records of ramp activities and incidents 
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT regulations as required and guidelines, including overseeing the safe and legal operation of airport vehicles, equipment, and personnel involved in airside and landside operations 
  • Safely lift, unload, load and transport baggage, mail and cargo to and from aircraft and airport 
  • Protect baggage and other equipment from damage, loss and weather conditions 
  • Ability to drive and operate heavy ground equipment, such as tugs, cargo carts, service trucks and belt loaders 
  • Assist in record keeping and documentation to ensure correct routing of baggage 
  • Use of personal protective equipment, including hearing protection 
  • Maintain area cleanliness 
  • Execute daily quality control checks on equipment 
  • Exemplify PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards 
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management  

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 18 years of age or older 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment. 
  • Must hold a valid driver's license. 
  • Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking) 
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in ramp operations or a similar role in the aviation industry 
  • Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices 
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means 
  • Pass a background check and drug screen  
  • Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, RAIC, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable). 
  • Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
