SUMMARY OVERVIEW
The Ramp Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations on the airport ramp, ensuring efficient, safe, and timely handling of aircraft and ground services. This position involves directing ramp supervisors and staff, managing the allocation of resources, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. You are also responsible for coordinating with airline representatives, air traffic control, and ground services to facilitate smooth aircraft turnarounds. Additionally, this role requires strategic planning and problem-solving skills to optimize ramp operations and respond effectively to any operational challenges.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee ramp operations ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Manage and coordinate ramp staff activities, including scheduling, training, and supervision
  • Implement safety and operational policies in line with DOT and FAA guidelines
  • Conduct regular inspections of ramp equipment and vehicles for DOT compliance
  • Coordinate with airline partners and ground handling agents for efficient ramp operations
  • Develop and enforce procedures for aircraft loading and unloading
  • Monitor ramp activities to ensure safe handling of cargo and baggage
  • Address and resolve operational issues and incidents on the ramp
  • Maintain records and documentation as required by DOT regulations
  • Provide leadership and guidance to ramp staff in DOT safety practices
  • Liaise with airport authorities and regulatory bodies on compliance matters
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of ramp equipment to meet DOT standards
  • Develop training programs to enhance staff knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Prepare reports and analyses on ramp operations and DOT compliance
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance ramp safety and efficiency
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ramp operations or ground handling, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
  • In-depth knowledge of airport operations and safety regulations
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, RAIC, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable).
  • Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
