Job description

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel classified in this job title.
SUMMARY:
The Airport Operations Intern will receive a comprehensive overview of airport operations and administration through a structured rotation in Airside Operations, Landside Operations, Fixed Base Operations (FBO), and Administration. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience across key operational areas, preparing students for future careers in the aviation industry.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Learn all aspects of FAR Part 139 regulations and safety management under the guidance of the Airside Operations Manager.
  • Observe and assist the Airside Operations team with safety inspections, wildlife management, projects, emergency preparedness, and safety data analysis, while remaining alert to conditions that may impact the safe and efficient movement of aircraft.
  • Observe and assist with Landside Operations team to include the terminal, parking operations, customer service, and curbside management.
  • Support Fixed Base Operations (FBO) operations by assisting with fueling procedures, aircraft services, fuel quality control, and customer service tasks.
  • Participate in Administrative projects, including operational reporting, budget tracking, research projects, and special assignments under the Executive Team.
  • Observe and assist the Safety and Security team with airport-wide operational and security concerns, supporting security rounds and situational assessments as needed.
  • Attend operational meetings and emergency drills to gain exposure to airport operations management.
  • Contribute to process improvement discussions by providing feedback, observations, and ideas from a student perspective.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Able to problem solve independently or seek assistance.
  • Knowledge of general and commercial aviation operations and procedures.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to learn, adapt, and perform effectively across multiple aspects of airport operations, administration, and varied work environments.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
  • Capable of working in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and rain.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds, push, climb, and walk for majority of the workday.
