Job description

Hillsboro Aero Academy is seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of Shop Assistant/Apprentice Mechanic at our Hillsboro location. This individual should possess mechanical aptitude, a good attitude, hard work ethic and ability to work efficiently. This is a training position with the goal of the Apprentice gaining their Airframe and Powerplant Certificates. The wage range is $20.00 - $30.00/hr, depending on experience. The starting wage for a shop assistant with no aviation experience is $20.00/hr with opportunity for raises based on performance, every 6 months.

Schedule: M-F, 8:00am-5:00pm.

The duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting certified A&P mechanics with maintenance
  • Making parts runs
  • Maintaining shop cleanliness
  • Completing shop projects

Must be able to work Monday through Friday, weekends and overtime if needed. This position would be an opportunity for someone to gain mechanical experience and OJT working on aircraft. 30 months of on the job training is equal to two years of A&P School, the candidate would then be eligible to take written, oral and practical tests to obtain their own A&P certificate and start their career as a certified aircraft mechanic. Company provided computer based training to prepare apprentice for written, oral and practical testing. Training and testing costs paid for by Hillsboro Aero Academy.
