Job description

The driver will safely and efficiently drive a commercial truck for extended hours to pick up and deliver freight. Drives truck, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, to transport and deliver goods locally to the airline and/or customer as determined by service level of shipment.
This is a weekend only position for Saturdays and Sundays part time for approximately 8 hours per day. The driver will safely and efficiently drive a commercial van for extended hours to pick up and deliver freight. Drives truck, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, to transport and deliver goods locally to the airline and/or customer as determined by service level of shipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • To load, unload, and transport cargo to and from customer locations and airport.
  • Maintain telephone contact with dispatcher to receive instructions.
  • Neatly complete bill of ladings and MAWB's (Master Airway Bill) for airlines in order to tender freight.
  • Maintain driver logbook and daily vehicle inspection report according to I.C.C regulations.
  • Interact daily with customers.
  • Sit, stand, climb, lift 50 lbs. Must be able to load cargo weighing in excess of 1000 lbs with the assistance of a pallet jack

QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School diploma
  • Commercial driving experience preferred
  • Must hold valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to operate a van with a capacity of 3,000 lbs
  • Ability to operate handheld computer / cellular telephone. Time management, processing paperwork
  • Must have basic knowledge of computers and email. The ability to operate handheld device used to communicate shipment information

$20.34 Starting Hourly Rate, Depending on Experience (DOE)
Physical requirements
  • Must be able to operate and drive a van with a capacity of 3,000 lbs
  • Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
  • Must be able to climb into and out of tractor several times per day using 3 points of contact.
  • Ability to lift over 50lbs at a time.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and squat in order to perform a full inspection of the underside of the trailer and inspect tires for adequate inflation and potential damage.
  • Must be able to work outside for short periods of time in all types of weather.
