SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Bridgeton, MO, US


LOCATION โ€“ ST. LOUIS, MO - HQ


The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing advanced accounting functions that support the financial integrity and operational success of GoJet Airlines. This position oversees complex account reconciliations, revenue accounting, month-end and year-end close activities, financial reporting, and general ledger maintenance while ensuring compliance with company policies. The Senior Accountant serves as a key business partner across multiple departments, providing financial analysis, resolving accounting issues, supporting external audits, and identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting.

  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible accounting experience, with demonstrated expertise in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.

  • Experience preparing financial statements, account reconciliations, and audit schedules.

  • Proficiency with accounting software/ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with leadership, department managers, auditors, and external business partners.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, professionalism, and continuous process improvement.

  • Excellent attendance and dependability record.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Administer and maintain the company's revenue accounting process in accordance with contractual agreements with its major airline partner.

    • Prepare monthly and long-range revenue estimates utilizing operational data, forecasting models, and internal performance metrics.

    • Reconcile monthly revenue receivables based on actual operating statistics and contractual terms.

    • Analyze contract provisions to ensure all eligible revenue, reimbursements, and receivables are accurately identified, calculated, and recorded.

    • Investigate and resolve revenue discrepancies while serving as the primary accounting liaison with the company's airline partner.



  • Prepare and record complex journal entries and supporting schedules for monthly financial close, including:

    • Prepaid expenses and amortization

    • Employee insurance and benefit expenses

    • Accrued liabilities including lodging, communications, utilities, outside services, simulator training, rent, and other operational expenses

    • Additional balance sheet and income statement accounts as assigned



  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and analyze variances to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.

  • Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

  • Prepare internal and external financial statements, management reports, and supporting analyses for executive leadership and business partners.

  • Coordinate annual audit activities by preparing audit schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and increase operational efficiencies.

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and special projects as assigned.

  • Support implementation and maintenance of accounting systems, reporting tools, and process improvements.
