What is an airline nanny?

Airline nannies, sometimes known as 'sky nannies,' are childcare professionals employed by airlines or hired privately to assist families traveling with children on flights. Their primary role is to care for and entertain children during air travel, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey for both the kids and their guardians. Duties can include supervising children, helping with meals, organizing activities, and assisting with any travel-related needs. Some international airlines have offered this service on long-haul flights to enhance the travel experience for families. Hiring a private airline nanny is also an option, especially for families who need personalized care during their trip.

What challenges do airline nannies face when caring for children during long-haul flights?

Airline nannies often encounter challenges such as managing children's discomfort due to cabin pressure changes, adjusting to different time zones, and keeping children entertained in a confined space for extended periods. They must also handle unexpected situations like motion sickness or anxiety, all while maintaining a calm and reassuring demeanor. Effective communication with parents and airline staff is crucial to ensure a safe and pleasant journey for the children.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be an airline nanny?

To thrive as an Airline Nanny, you generally need experience or training in childcare, a background in first aid/CPR, and often a relevant certification such as a childcare diploma or nanny accreditation. Familiarity with airline safety protocols, travel documentation requirements, and child-safe travel equipment is also important. Strong communication, patience, adaptability, and the ability to comfort children in high-stress travel situations are crucial soft skills. These qualifications ensure children's safety, comfort, and well-being during flights, while also providing reassurance to parents and supporting airline staff.

Hi! I am looking for a live-in nanny. I am an airline pilot and will be gone from home for a couple to 3 days off in a row. When I am at home, I want to be involved as much as possible in my own children's development, and care. I am going to have a shared approach to the children's care when I am at home. I need: General Childcare,Light Housekeeping,School Pick Up / Drop Off,Activity Pick Up / Drop Offs. The Pick-up and drop-offs are for school, gymnastics, and swimming lessons. These are the kid's hobbies: Ava likes gymnastics and dance; Carter likes playing with Airplanes, Space Ship, and anything Star Wars/Spider Man!
Further Information:
My name is Chris. I am an American Airlines pilot, and a single dad of 2 children. I brought my 6-year-old daughter, and 4-year-old son from Thailand in early April, 2021, to live with me permanently in the USA. I am looking for a live-in nanny for my children as soon as possible. I would be at home approximately 20 days a month, and I am wanting to participate in the children's lives significantly when I am at home in Las Vegas. Therefore, when I am at home, I do not want, or expect, you to do everything for my children, as I want to participate in their lives as much as possible; I am a very "hands-on" father. I will be giving 2 days a week free of duties. It is best if you would have a drivers license, and can use my extra vehicle if you do not have your own transportation. I am hoping to find someone that enjoys traveling, and the outdoors, as I have taken my children on excursions around the USA every month since they have been in the USA. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you. Chris :)
I brought my 6-year-old daughter, and 4-year-old son from Thailand in early April to live with me permanently in the USA. I am interested in finding a live-in nanny for my children. Included in the job: Room(you will have your own furnished room), food, utilities, and all traveling expenses would be included. I have already been taking the children traveling significantly with my travel benefits from the airline. I prefer to have someone that enjoys traveling. Again, I would cover all traveling expenses as well., and you would travel with my two children and treated like family. You, as my nanny, would only have to pay for your own personal items, except food, travel, gasoline, and utilities. As I have had nannies, and housekeepers in Thailand before, I prefer someone who is younger, or if older, has the patience and energy level to stay up with the children, and also be able to hike, bike and do outdoor activities for fun. I would be at home approximately 20 days a month. I am wanting to participate in the children's lives significantly when I am at home in Las Vegas. I am looking for a live-in nanny that does not have a boyfriend, or is married, because I do not want another man whom I do not have a personal relationship with in the house with my children when I am not at home due to work. The nanny I hire will be welcomed in "as family". If interested, call or text me. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
