Position Overview:
Continental Aerospace Technologies is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our dynamic Supply Chain team. As a Production Planner, you will play a critical role in managing production schedules, work order execution, and material flow across the manufacturing operation. You will be responsible for developing and prioritizing work orders, monitoring production progress, identifying and resolving shortages, and coordinating with Manufacturing, Stores, Engineering, Quality, and Aftermarket teams to ensure customer demand is met. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of making data-driven decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Planning and Work Order Management: Create, release, prioritize, modify, and close production work orders within the ERP system to support production schedules, customer demand, takt rate requirements, and operational priorities.
Production Schedule Coordination: Collaborate daily with Manufacturing, Production Supervisors, and Value Stream Managers to align production priorities, workload distribution, and resource availability while maintaining schedule adherence.
Shortage Management and Escalation: Monitor component shortages and supply disruptions, communicate production impacts, coordinate corrective actions, and escalate issues that may affect delivery performance, customer commitments, or manufacturing output.
Work-In-Process (WIP) Control: Maintain visibility of work orders throughout the manufacturing process by reconciling production activity, conducting regular WIP reviews, validating inventory locations, and addressing discrepancies that may impact production flow.
Capacity and Demand Planning: Analyze production requirements, forecasts, aftermarket demand, warranty requirements, and available resources to develop executable plans that support customer demand and operational efficiency.
Inventory Accuracy and Reporting: Support inventory integrity through WIP counts, work order reconciliation, record retention, and reporting activities while maintaining accurate planning data and performance metrics.
Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement: Track key planning and production metrics including fill rate, schedule attainment, backlog, and takt rate performance. Identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions to improve efficiency, reduce delays, and optimize workflow.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Buyers, Stores, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Customer Service teams to resolve production issues, support engineering changes, manage nonconforming material impacts, and ensure alignment to business objectives.
Project and Operational Support: Support special projects, production initiatives, and business objectives through effective planning, communication, coordination, and resource management.
Characteristics For Success
Analytical Expertise: Strong ability to analyze demand, work order status, inventory availability, capacity constraints, and production performance data to support effective decision-making.
Operational Focus: Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining visibility across production operations, inventory, shortages, and customer requirements.
Effective Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, coordinate, and collaborate across multiple departments and organizational levels.
Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to identify production constraints, material shortages, scheduling conflicts, and process inefficiencies while implementing effective corrective actions.
Detail Orientation: Exceptional attention to detail when managing production schedules, work order transactions, inventory records, and planning data.
Adaptability: Ability to respond effectively to changing customer priorities, production disruptions, material constraints, and shifting business demands.
Continuous Improvement Mindset: Commitment to identify opportunities for process improvement and driving operational excellence through data-driven decision-making.
Collaboration and Leadership: Ability to build strong relationships, drive accountability, and coordinate efforts across cross-functional teams to achieve production and business goals.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, materials planning, manufacturing operations, or supply chain functions within a manufacturing environment. Experience with ERP/MRP systems, inventory management, work order control, and production scheduling is preferred.
