Source Testing Technician - Calgary

As a Source Testing Technician your responsibilities are:

  • Field sampling of stationary air pollution sources.
  • Seeking and following guidance provided by PM Group and Supervisor(s).
  • Ensuring the production of high quality, legally defensible data, safely and on time.
  • To provide excellent customer service.
  • Conduct basic field sampling projects in conjunction with senior field staff members. Includes preparation of equipment and chemicals, client confirmation and site-specific safety training, field sampling, field QA/QC of data, collection of field data, filling out daily WHA forms, turning over of completed data to senior field staff on project.
  • Supports and complies with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program.
  • Adheres to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy.
  • Participates, when requested in Air Services lab and health and safety meetings.
  • Participates, when requested in Air Services internal and external audits.
  • Ensure proper daily use of personal monitors, and use of all required PPE.
  • Maintenance and proper storage of all PPE.
  • Equipment maintenance, repair and calibration at direction of PM group and Supervisor, with training from senior staff members.
  • Ensuring vehicle fleet is maintained in clean, working order.
  • Ensuring bays and common work spaces are kept clean at all times.
  • Keeps work area clean, neat and organized.
  • Providing excellent customer service by always presenting a professional attitude and representing Bureau Veritas in a positive way; complying with all client and Bureau Veritas safety initiatives and rules; ensuring that all Client requests and expectations are met.
  • Performing QA/QC of data as required by PM group or Management.
  • Maintaining a positive, cooperative work environment.
  • Communicating with the Supervisor to ensure the correct level of supplies.
  • Develop a strong supportive relationship with the PM group and Supervisors.
  • All other duties deemed necessary by the Supervisor or Director.

    You are an ideal Source Testing Technician if you have [Minimum Requirements]:

  • 2-year technical diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Basic understanding of chemistry, plumbing, and electrical techniques and concepts.
  • Adaptable and willing to travel and work extended hours in the field.
  • Knowledge of safe work procedures and requirements.
  • Skilled in problem solving, effective communication.
  • Possess an energetic, motivated, positive, analytical mindset.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office capabilities.
  • Good driving record with less than 6 demerits and meets federal carrier driver requirements.
