Job description

Position Summary:

The Amendment Agent is responsible for processing unmanifested and overage shipments to ensure timely clearance through U.S. Customs and smooth movement within the DHL network. This role works closely with internal DHL stations and customs officials to resolve shipment delays, obtain freight releases, and maintain accurate shipment tracking and entry processing within DHL systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process inbound and outbound freight for U.S. Customs clearance in accordance with DHL and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and process overage and unmanifested shipments accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with customs officials and internal departments to resolve clearance delays and secure shipment release.
  • Monitor shipment status and provide timely updates to DHL origin and destination stations.
  • Utilize DHL systems for shipment tracking, entry processing, and operational reporting.
  • Investigate and resolve shipment discrepancies using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, customs regulations, and security procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience using DHL operational systems and programs.
  • Previous experience in customs brokerage, logistics, or air freight operations.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of ACA, HMS, and DCE systems preferred.
  • Ability to qualify for an airport security badge and/or Customs clearance for DHL facilities.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening and background requirements as applicable.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods; bend, stoop, and climb stairs/ladders as needed.
  • Ability to work in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience using DHL operational systems and programs.
