Job description

We are seeking an experienced Air Freight & Time-Critical Logistics Specialist to manage domestic air freight, Next Flight Out (NFO) shipments, and other time-sensitive transportation requirements.

This position requires someone who can make quick, informed routing decisions, communicate effectively with commercial airlines and airport personnel, and coordinate highly time-sensitive shipments from pickup through final delivery.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of U.S. airports and airport codes, understands domestic air freight operations and TSA air cargo regulations, and is comfortable handling sensitive shipments, including small medical devices and human organs for transplant.

Compensation:

$22 - $30 hourly


Responsibilities:
  • Manage domestic air freight and time-critical shipments from booking through final delivery.

  • Coordinate Next Flight Out (NFO) and expedited air freight shipments.

  • Determine the most efficient and reliable routing based on shipment requirements, flight schedules, cut-off times, TSA requirements, and delivery deadlines.

  • Work directly with commercial airlines, airline cargo departments, airport personnel, and ground transportation providers.

  • Monitor shipments throughout the entire transportation process and proactively address delays, missed connections, flight cancellations, or other service disruptions.

  • Coordinate airport transfers, pickups, deliveries, and recovery plans when necessary.

  • Track and communicate shipment status to customers and internal operations teams.

  • Maintain accurate shipment information, routing details, airline bookings, and required documentation.

  • Ensure shipments are routed and handled in accordance with applicable TSA air cargo security requirements and regulations.

  • Identify alternative routing options quickly when the original plan is no longer viable.

  • Handle urgent and sensitive shipments with a high level of attention to detail and confidentiality.

  • Coordinate shipments involving medical devices and organs for transplant, understanding the urgency and specialized handling requirements associated with these shipments.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, drivers, airlines, and internal teams during high-pressure situations.


Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in air freight, expedited transportation, time-critical logistics, or NFO operations.

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. airports and IATA airport codes.

  • Experience booking and routing shipments through commercial airlines.

  • Working knowledge of TSA regulations and air cargo security requirements.

  • Understanding of airline cargo procedures, flight schedules, cut-off times, and airport operations.

  • Experience coordinating domestic air freight shipments under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to quickly evaluate multiple routing options and make sound decisions under pressure.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.

  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn and navigate transportation and airline booking systems.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with medical logistics or healthcare transportation.

  • Experience handling medical devices, laboratory equipment, or other sensitive medical shipments.

  • Experience coordinating organ transplant transportation.

  • Experience with NFO, hand-carry, hot-shot, or other highly expedited transportation services.

  • Existing knowledge of major U.S. airline cargo networks and airport hubs.

  • Experience working with sensitive or high-value shipments.
